Niki is always in these kind of threads and is honest about her wine habits. I have to kid her.

I really thought, like others have posted, that the spirit of allowing people to bring in wine is for a special bottle or maybe something high priced and unique that is not on the list.
I guess that is kind of a thing of the past or maybe only applies at high end restaurants.

Why would I mask the flavor of a steak with A1?

Catsup is much more complimentary to a steak.

I see little problem with bringing your own special bottle in a restaurant for special events or occasions, except for perhaps in restaurants centered around wine like wine bars and the like. That being said, I would expect to pay a hefty corkage fee as well for doing so. Especially for those restaurants that have BS house wine selections to begin with, I wouldn't concern myself with it.

A1 = A1

Wine =/= Wine

Furthermore

A1 + Steak = Unconcerned with etiquette in the slightest

Have brought more than one bottle of banana red into a bar

I have a thing about south american wine... and one of my favorites isnt expensive.

I have spent more on a corkage fee than a bottle of Casillero Del Diablo merlot costs...but it pairs sooooooo well with their heavily spiced dishes.

Clowns...its called MANNERS! If you can't find something to drink to your liking then you have two options. One, don't drink or two, leave. To those that think i'm an idiot, no problem. While your looking down your nose at me, i'm looking up at you laughing. Your boogers are showing

Uh, you've missed the point of bringing a special bottle of wine on occasion to a restaurant. Your experience, clearly, is limited.

You're a shitty troll.

ETA: May as well post something on topic as well. I have no issue with bringing my own bottle to a restaurant that offers it. I don't particularly care if it's a cheap bottle either. The markup on wine is ridiculous, usually 4 to 5 times store price. If I can avoid paying $50 for a $10 bottle of wine by buying it myself and paying a $20 cork fee, I'm doing it. The wines we bring are never on any of the wine lists though, so there isn't really much to for me to feel bad about.

Like some others have said, I'd rather not pay $50 to find out I don't like the bottle of wine I ordered when I can instead pay to bring a bottle I know I love. If that makes me cheap and trashy, oh well.
