BTW, do any of the local stores sell the steering clips? Mine both broke.

No idea. Always ordered online or bought at bass pro. I may have a set. I'll check tonight.

My 07 boat like yours wouldnt sink so I doubt yours will. Drove to toledo one night in the rain and had the plug out. Launched and docked boat for a tourny the next morning. Sat like that all night and same thing, about 6"'s in the boat the next day.

A second place to stabilize the motor and keep it from wiggling when hitting bumps.
Wiggling...ok, sure. I don't think wiggling is going to be a problem to anything.

Both do this by connecting a second brace to the motor in a second place.
So a more efficient transfer of the rocking to the transom.

I don't even know what to say to that.

It's not my fault you don't understand it.

I tend to remove it more than I put it back in!

I remember those times. I remember having to dob around for it in the mouth of Sammy Gill at 38* with 25mph north winds. Took the whole of that creek to run all the water out

I think I finally see what some of you are thinking. Do you think the old style actually supports any significant amount of weight? All the do is brace the motor to keep it from rocking/wiggling up and down. The don't help support the weight. If the trim system is out they wont even stay put and you will lose it. Only the resting weight of the foot is transferred which does no good for the transom.

It's not so much support as to prevent a sudden downward movement.

so you think the transom cant support that?

The problem is the weight shifting. Anything to brace that will save a transom. No I see your fault

Can we trade on of the ob doctors for a resident engineer that can put this to rest?

I'm sure we have a few. I taught physics at ULM,does that count? It's really not complicated.

Me too but I suck at it. My wife reminds me everyday that I would go broke if my paycheck depended on it.

It obviously does. I'd rather have my trailer taking it on.

Shifting where?

Brace? You are creating a situation with even less play than before, ergo, even more shock to the transom. Did you even watch the videos?

Mine is hardly a troll's position. It ends up this way on every board. Those who understand what is going on, and those who don't. I am saddened that you're in that latter group. Hell, I wasn't even the one who drew the picture.

Oh, and I unfriend you.

No one is disagreeing that the wedge supports the motor. We're talking about where the energy is transferred to. The wedge transfers it to the transom. The old way transfers it to the trailer.

You say it's to prevent "bounce". I agree. But to stop that motion, something has to receive that energy on the other end. Would you not rather put undue stress on your transom or onto your trailer?

I give up you're obviously not going to understand. I will pray for you though.

Coon, I'm just going to assume your physics skills aren't superior to your drawing and give you a pass.
