Individually Mexico has better players. I know they lack chemistry. So we are better than Argentina? No they were idiotic with their coach selection.

Germany and west Germany are completely diff. When the Germans were winning it was during a war torn Europe.

So I'm giving reasons why we won't win one. Someone convince me why we will. I have yet to see any of you soccer know it alls give a legit reason why we will win a world cup.

Someone might bring up Spain, but I've been to Madrid I watched atletico in el Calderon. Nothing but LSU football compares to what I witnessed there. Plus kids were dribbling balls up and down the streets, in the squares, every where, on cobble streets no grass. Where can you see that here?

Break it down for me. What competitions? Where were these played? That will tell a better story. OK so what, we beat Mexico in the united states. We won't have that luxury in the world cup.

2002 World Cup

Round of 16-Jeonju, South Korea

USA 2, Mexico 0

It doesn't matter where we play them as long as it isn't at Azteca. Or the Rose Bowl for that matter.

Omg we won 2 games outside the united states against them. Please, we won't even make it out the group yet you guys think we have a legit chance to win a world cup?

Soccer is just not bred into our culture.

I said we aren't better than Mexico. But I used them to present what soccer means in other countries. I don't think Mexico is winning one anytime soon either. My whole argument was we are never going to win. Not while any if us in this thread are alive.

What does this have to do with US v. Mexico?

Obviously you didn't, else I wouldn't have posted what I did.

Also, how does you being on your phone excuse you from not knowing the difference between "bred" and "bread"?

What does this summer have to do with a world cup 40 years from now?

Yeah I saw that match live 12 years ago, with the best team we had since the 30s.

Cool, I did, too.

But, I thought we only beat Mexico in the United States, right?

We beat Mexico on the biggest stage and have owned them recently, yet they are still better than us.

Soccer is not bread into us? Good thing Bimbo is a kit sponsor for Philly now.

the ultimate insult would be if we won it with soccer being so far down the totem pole. that's why the world would freak out of if we threatened it. FIFA will do everything it can to frick the US if we get that good, or have that kind of run

It's really not that ridiculous. The amount of progress the national team has made in the last 25 years or so is insane.

They're only going to Brazil because we allowed it.

I think we can also agree that dgnx6 is talking out his arse.

Not by the above but equally off-base:
quote:

Until the U.S. starts consistently producing players that have significant playing time at "Tottenham or better" clubs in Europe, there is no shot to really make it past first round of the knockout stages.

Disclaimer: 2002 does not apply

No shot... except that it already happened... and without players playing at "Tottenham or better." And in fact I consider comparing the US to Tottenham to be mightily insulting to the US of A. You are a bad patriot.
