God I hope this gang bullshite drives his price down and we can have a shot at him. Dude played well and mostly problem free in Philly for 6 years despite his gang "connections".

Not no, but f*** no!

^^ All of this. The guy is a thug who is ALWAYS in a contract dispute. I think he would be even worse in N.O.

With the depth at WR in the draft.....I think we stay away from this headache.

He would be productive....but is it really worth fricking up a good locker room.....I say NO!

He can take his sh!tty attitude and run it right down the sideline every play and we will be unstoppable. That mfer will take the top off of every defence in the league. Including seattle.
Sign his arse for one year.
Wouldn't bother me a bit.
We get a trophy and he gets a ring to show his two friends. Or maybe one.

There's no way he could come in here and frick up one of the strongest locker rooms in the NFL.

I wouldnt be mad if we signed him; quite the opposite. If SP and crew think past the off the field shite, I do too; bc on the field, dude is a playmaker.

I tend to agree with the idea that the window is closing therefore preserving a locker room for a bunch of playoff runs where we pose no real threat to win it all doesnt sit well

I think we are nearing the win at all costs phase of Drews career

...this guy could be a guy who could change the entire aura of our offense by adding a ridiculous dimension to it. If the team thinks by adding him we are a step closer to becoming a Superbowl favorite you have to consider it.

I understand that his attitude and background suck...however the guy can play at a position of need and play there at an extremely high level.

If he wanted a contract that was even remotely reasonable I would consider giving it to him...if nothing else there is a good chance he ends up in Carolina and no one wants that.

Would love.

Probably not, but I think we should. A one year pro it deal is all I would offer, but the concerns about him can't be as bad as they seem. Most of the uncertainty surrounding him is conjecture and journalists trying to connect dots that may not mean anything. He's been a headache, but he wouldn't threaten this locker room. He's entirely too talented to not be worth a look. Players of his caliber don't often hit free agency.

Not gonna happen.

There's no way we could afford him, even on a 1 year deal. If the draft wasn't as deep as it is at WR I could see it maybe being an option for the FO but I doubt they would try to shoot ourselves in the foot again capwise for a talented WR with cap issues when we can find a similar player who needs a little development time in the draft.

I want it to happen literally just to see the full melt that would occur on the Falcons boards.

I mean, if it did happen obviously I'd be excited. The meltdown by everyone, not just Falcons fans, would be absolutely hilarious.

It would just take a huge combo of factors for it to happen. He would definitely have to be willing to come on the cheap because teams like the Jets have a lot more money available to offer him. A show me deal is not ideal for him because he is coming off a career yr already. He'll be looking for a long term deal. So unless we had a plan in place to free up another chunk of cap space for next season (it's plausible that we plan to part ways with our guards and MLBs next offseason) I doubt he would sign here.

There is no chance he signs here for the little amount we could offer, as compared to teams that can offer a lot. He's going to only care about the money.

That is even if we wanted him.

IMO,
We'd be stupid to not want him. The more I read about the "gang" thing the last hour, the more it sounds like complete bullshite. It's like "he's black and dresses like a thug and hangs out with more black people; GANG!" Andy Reid came out and said he was a great person off the field. It seems all these rumors come from the fact that he didn't mesh with Kelly's college coach "you are my kids now" mentality.

quote:

"I have nothing but good things to say about the kid," said Reid, now the coach of the Chiefs. "I did draft him. I had a great relationship with him. When his father passed away, that was a hard thing for him to go through at a young age. They were best friends. I've experienced life things with him, so I would tell you he was great for me when I was there."

The only issue (big one) would be money. Dude is coming off his best season, is exactly the type of player this offense is needing, has proven it already, would take no development time, and apparently would like to come here.

Depends on what he's willing to play for and whether or not we are willing to pretty much lay everything on the line for a 2-3 yr window.

Ok, so a coach said something positive about one of his players.

How is that more accurate than the negative stuff said about Jackson?

He is a speedy playmaker, but SP won't put up that "me" attitude.

It should be treated the same, BC media saying things is treated like doctrine apparently. That's kind of my point....
