Had to appeal last year via paperwork. They would not do anything in person. Filing took 8-12 weeks before we heard something. They did come down but not by much. It's all ridiculous.

I have before. I just looked at my stuff from HCAD and the appraised value went up $20k. I'll probably pull some info together to see how I compare to the houses in my section.

If you have an appraisal below their assessed value, that will be really helpful. I've had to do it on two properties.....taking time to meet face to face with the city of Nola is the only way to get anything done here.

You won't want to bring up any improvements you've done or pictures of work you've done on it. That would increase their assessment. If you've had damage or some sort of loss, you might want pictures to prove that.

You might get it bumped down to purchase price but you shouldn't be outraged it doubled.
