The result ensures Pep Guardiola's side wraps up the title with seven games to spare in the Spaniard's first season as coach, beating the mark set in last year's record-breaking campaign by one game.

It was also Bayern's 19th consecutive win, their 10th consecutive victory away from home, and stretched their unbeaten run to 52 games. All are Bundesliga records.

Pep for USMNT manager 2018. I think this guy wouldn't have any trouble at all getting duel citizenship guys.

Now they can frick around and let loose guys like Julian Green against first team competition.

That's insane though with so many fixtures left. It would be like letting a top National Team compete in a normal league.

Guardiola´s probably going to try Lahm as the 9.

So does this mean we can stop pretending to care about the Bundesliga?

It would be hilarious to see Pep try to coach the US.

Won't be messing around too much (though I'd love to see Green get a call up for a match)...they are still aiming to finish the season undefeated, something no other squad has done in the league's history.

Would you try and teach ballet to a group of baby giraffes?

I wouldn't call our team baby giraffes. It's not like our team is comprised of amateur college players anymore. We've got guys who have proven they can play at a high level. Plus it looks like we have some pretty promising young talent that will be featured in the coming years.

I think Pep knows better than you and I if a team has enough talent that he can coach them using his tactics.

But the whole premise, I assume, of people getting excited about the prospect of him coaching us is that they think he could bring that style to the US which is simply not realistic.

A Mourinho type would suit our teams quality much better, but I hope that never happens.
