Last year he could not create a shot for himself on a regular basis. Many analysts doubted we would see that from him for a few years, if ever. That he's doing it now at high volume AND high efficiency is astounding.
His ceiling is limitless from what we've seen over 100+ games.
He had ball skills, but was still adjusting to his huge growth spurt. The kid was actually lauded for his ball skills since he started out as a guard, so I am not sure what your point in saying he struggled with them was other than it has taken some time for him to adjust to his size.
His ceiling is pretty damn high, but that wasn't something I questioned. I simply stated that I don't think there is any reason to guarantee that Monty or his staff are so great at developing with him. They have definitely had an effect, but I don't think they deserve as much credit as some say. I think it has more to do with Davis getting acclimated with his body and improving coordination after his growth spurt which takes a little time.
This kid was a guard until his last year and a half in high school. Growing 7 inches in a year is tough. I did it, and it affected my coordination for quite some time and I wasn't a prep b-ball star.
In the end, I think the coaching staff deserves credit, but if they are so great, why aren't the others like Rivers, Aminu, and Miller developing like many would expect?

So what does that make me? An eagle? Or a Pelican?

That he did not flash those ball skills at UK. He did not flash them last year in the pros. Saying he was (a lightly regarded) guard in high school, so he has NBA level ball skills is reach IMO.

I have plenty of Monty issues. And I dont think you can attribute Davis's progression solely to him and the staff.
But Davis being a number 1, volume scorer was not ordained because he played guard in HS or in a limited system at UK. Not running enough plays for a guy is not the same as being a legit foundation of an offense.
It was doubtful from almost every reasonable and knowledgeable perspective that Davis would likely reach that level. That he is there in 100 pro games is remarkable. He deserves most of credit for that. And the coaches deserve some as well. They have managed him as well as can be hoped for, all other issues aside.

It's a huge image. To scale it down you have to put " width=XXX" after the .jpg part like
.jpg width=450[/img]
I also did not know how appropriate Jive Turkey was for heady until I looked it up in urban dictionary. It's just a word I remembered as common "term of endearment" from old sitcoms like Good Times and the Jeffersons.
