I don't think I've seen a better gif that sums up internet arguments.

quote:See, I'm much more skeptical of tech that simulates movement like the Virtuix Omni.
The video I saw of someone wearing an oculus rift while on one of those treadmills where you could walk around appeals to me. That is cool and immersive to me.
I feel like getting simulated movement feeling right is further down the road, not to mention the consumer barrier of people actually wanting to clear space out in their homes to make room for a VR treadmill.
quote:Everything I've read about the Rift (there are no hands on impressions of this Morpheus device yet) indicates the picture in the goggles encompasses nearly your entire view. Supposedly it's not like you're just looking at a screen off in the distance. I don't know how well it will work for FPS games where your character is on foot but I could see it being amazing for any experience where your character would be sitting down anyway, like piloting a jet, driving a car, etc.
The part that doesn't appeal to me is just sitting in chair with this thing on my head just so I can look in different directions. It just seems like something that would get old very quick.
quote:I thought this was cool too but totally impractical for most people.
The illumaroom thing Microsoft showed off a couple of years ago appeals to me much more and I think would to the general public even more.
quote:
Hey bro, question. If your posting has nothing to do with the PS4, why in the sweet mother of frick is your stupid arse in this thread? Where in the OP does it say anything about the Rift? It doesn't. Start your own goddamn thread about the Rift if you think it sucks so bad. Y'all bitch about UH, but you and that other retard, hg, brought him up first and he hadn't even posted yet.

Virtuix Omni.
Super niche market, but I plan on buying one and an oculus rift.

VR is dumb and a niche market right now. Who the hell is going to ever have an extended gaming period with that ridiculous thing on their heard.
People will buy it and it will be cool for like 15 minutes.
3D Tv hasn't caught on because no one wants to wear those glasses all the damn time.
Y'all are seriously telling me a bunch of people are actually gonna buy these things.
Um. It has to start somewhere. You sound really shortsighted.

quote:I don't want to turn this into a XBO vs PS4 thing (more than it already is) but the Kinect paired with a VR headset could solve a lot of the problems Oculus has been trying to find solutions for as far as tracking certain types of head and body movement.
Sure microsofts will be better. They have done well with the effectiveness of voice and the connect.
Rumor is that MS is working on their own headset, so I'll be interested to see how those integrate.

We're going to need to meet in Birmingham and hug this dispute out.

Okay, let me know when you get about half way there and I'll start driving.

Word
VR is cool, can't wait to try it
If consumers don't buy it, you will definitely see it in arcades.
But for financial purposes, this is something that Sony shouldn't be focusing on right now.
