Legit question here, but does Usher actually play any instruments, or write all his songs, or sing without autotune?

Yes. And well

Question I asked last season that nobody answered: did anyone actually think CLo sounded good on any of his performances on the show? To me he always sounded like shite

I went to his concert in Nola a few years ago, he can definitely sing.

As for playing an instrument well, he seems to be doing alright on the bass here

Not once and I just can't listen to his drivel that makes no sense when he comments. I ff'd through a lot of it last season when I didn't watch live.

I'm less concerned about how the mentors coach than I am what I have to listen to when they talk. The coaching is more important when the contestant doesn't have as much talent or doesn't know enough about music to give an opinion on song choice, genre etc... When they don't know "who they are as an artist", they sometimes need help in selection, though themes throw off some of the best of them on occasion.

This is me. shite, I FFWD through everything but the performances and the quick chats afterward. All of the practice and "coaching" I don't watch at all.

And Usher is a pretty awesome singer and dancer. Has been for 15+ years or so now.

And, some of the fluff. Also, the inordinate amount of commercials.

Exactly. It's why I can watch a two hour episode in about 30 minutes.

I usually catch up with the show, unfortunately, and I like to watch the live shows live.

First girl up is way better than creepy Miley, but I sure hope we don't hear wrecking ball over and over and over again.

I'd buy TJ's rendition of Bennie and the Jets.
