Our DB class is going to be lightyears better than their's when it is all said and done. We were never going to offer and for one am happy for the kid.

Tamu is not a threat to us. At least not on the defensive side of the ball. LA is always stacked with athletes. We can't sign 25 guys every cycle that project as a wr or db. so naturally, some good ones will get away.

You can bet that if Johnson ends up at A&M that the coaching staff will get the blame because they didn't offer this kid.

This is just Coach Joseph being Coach Joseph. He always goes after the easier prospects and doesn't put much effort into the studs. By LSU not offering it isn't a challenge to get him instead of LSU.

I don't know why people are dismissing Capers because this kid is a legitimate SEC recruit. LSU missed out on him and this will be a big miss. HOPefully we can turn him before he signs on the dotted line.

I guess Alabama, Auburn, Miss St, Ole Miss, etc are going to "miss" him too.

Missouri was his other SEC offer

This had nothing to do with johnson. We wanted dcs on his own merits. Sure, we want johnson just like everybody else, but we aren't going to "waste" a scholarship to get another receiver. We have more talent at receiver than any other position and are in great shape for another great receiver class with or without johnson,

Only if they don't replace him with someone of equal or greater talent.

People will have to get used to the fact that LA players will sign with other SEC schools during talent-rich years like 2014 and 2015. Add in the several OOS kids LSU signs each year.

I don't want our staff getting in the habit of offering a lesser talent to get a good player too. You do that enough and you wind up with half of a team of good players and half of a team of average players. I would want kids who have there own mind and want to do what's best for their own future not sell their own self short to benefit a friend.

this is not a big deal from the standpoint that 6ft. athletes are all over the place in la. this year. 2 la. athletes are now committed to sec west schools. this points out the fact that LSU will have to evaluate and offer la. players earlier as SOME of them will not wait on a LSU offer if they have offers from big sec west schools. now, what happens if these schools immediately offer dillion, chatman, etc. will LSU offer or stand pat?

Why do you assume those players haven't been evaluated? We've already offered teammates of theirs, including one that's a year younger.

Just because we haven't offerred them doesn't mean we haven't evaluated them. It could just mean we've got players higher on our board.

so are you saying that LSU has evaluated not only guys like dillon and chatman (an not offered) but all la. prospects. further, are you saying that since we have evaluated all la. prospects then the ones that have no offer are lower on the board than oos guys. thus, if big time programs offer la. prospcets (who have no LSU offer) then LSU will let them go just as they are doing with capers-smith.
