i have a hardwire ethernet from my entertainment center to my router
if i wanted to hook up my ps4 and my desktop at that spot, all i need is an ethernet switch right?

Are all of your router slots being used, because they could plug in to that as well. But a switch will work too.

i have one ethernet line through the attic to another room

Gotcha. I had to google the difference between a hub and a switch. If you don't plan on running all of your devices at the same time, a hub would be a cheaper option.

No. Not that. The one I posted was Gigabit. That one for 9.99 is not. You probably don't need Giga. I have Giga from my PC, to my router, to my switch, and to the PS3 and 4. So, for no bottleneck, I went G for the PC to PS3 connection, really.

Not for me. I needed PC to PS3 for internal network. For you, its internet. Your PC is whats playing your content. My PS3 is playing mine (from the PC).
