So who all bought this prior to them making the announcement that there would be additions that you would have to pay for?

If you did then they said they would honor what the previously misstated and we get all the updates for free.

I did.

Got it in March-April 2013.

When was that? I bought it during winter sale.

I just spent something like six hours and probably 5 Kerbal years getting Jebediah back from a failed approach to Duna with little fuel. He was coming into the atmosphere at 30,000 m/s or something dumb like that

Did he make it?

Ya, he was still attached to the lander (meant for Duna) which has four parachutes for landing plus the chute on the command module. Had to have pulled some serious G's.

I overestimated how much fuel I had coming back from the Mun my first landing mission and wasn't able to do a proper circular orbit. Escaped the Mun and it was essentially a straight drop into the Kerbin atmosphere at 3,500 m/s. I was shocked the craft was able to slow down and not rip the parachutes away when they deployed

Same here. I'm not sure if I'm going for Duna or Eve yet. Will probably go to Duna because Eve is damn near impossible to get off of.

I bought it way prior to steam having it.

This shot is back from early 2012, all you had to go to was the Mun.

No landing struts in the game yet, had to land on wing parts. No EVA either, only had a 3 person command module and pretty much the standard 1 person parts. All the big parts came later.

Some more goodies from the past, my lack of skills building a Mun rocket before I learned about asparagus staging. Still can't believe this piece of shite actually got the job done.

Finally found a landing on the Mun on just wing tips.

Ya, I need to look into these people who build refueling depots and bases (allegedly). Maybe you have to set all that stuff up first to be able to return.

Cool throwback pics.

I have a Mun Rocket I built that has a perfectly fine orbital rocket for the center, but its surrounded by a ring of boosters. I would launch it so the boosters would take it up pretty far and then I'd use the actual rocket engines as the second stage. Was hell to fly but it got the job done.

Duna is very easy once you figure it out. It's not much more difficult than a Minmus landing, requires just a bit more fuel. Scott Manley can land on Duna and it's moon on a single orange fuel tank and get home.

I don't know how people do Eve and get off without using Kethane or Biofuel mods or just straight up cheating, I haven't watched any tutorials on it yet though. Eve is just way hard to get off the surface with it's atmosphere. Would take me forever getting all the pieces out there to attempt it and get off with how much fuel I think I would need and then landing that rocket would be a freakin nightmare. You need something bigger than getting off Kermin.

Scott Manley is an exception to everything. He's like fricking magic.

this game seems very interesting. Not sure if itll be worth the 27 bucks for an extremely casual gamer like myself.

Stupid question: does it require a mouse or could I load this game on my laptop and play without any problem?

Made my first trip to Duna in career mode last night.

Just before liftoff

Leaving the Kerbin

Decoupled first stage

Burned out of the Kerbin SOI and heading into interplanetary space

In space, deploying solar panels

Deployed second to last stage which has nuclear engine. Burning to Duna encounter.

First site of Duna. Burning to circular orbit.

Decoupled nuclear engine and in final/landing stage.

Final approach to Duna surface

Landed on the surface and sent science back. This was a Kerbal-less mission. Need to build a model that can get us back home. This probe is stuck on Duna for a while.

I'm so jelly right now.

I'm bumbling my Duna missions. If its anything like my previous problems with Mun and Minmus, I'll go from total failure to putting Kerbals within 10 feet of my target overnight.

Oh same. I couldn't land on the Mun or Minmus to save my life. The first time you do it though, it's automatic the rest of the time. I'm thinking of sending a recruit to Eve and just leaving him there until I can find a way to rescue him. I want to explore Eve but I don't want to wait until I find a rocket model that can get them back.
