I'm assuming there was a typo on the can/can't

naw, franchising him as a TE is cheaper than a long term deal

yeah im cool with franchising him as a tight end. Definitely not a fan of throwing a huge contract at him.

the public announcement says more than the words. We all knew he would be tagged.

Loomis got his poker face on.

We paid the shite out of Brees.
Not sure what Jimmy is asking, but common sense says with our cap situation that we can't pay him top WR dollars.

Yet to be seen. In the end, the threat of the dispute may be enough to encourage the long term deal...which is clearly what the Saints want.

It's not about feelings man, it's about the allocation salary across the salary cap. It's not crazy to suggest that money could be better spent elsewhere. I'm not saying I agree, but it's certainly not crazy.

Sounds good to me. Graham is a true boss, but his value is only as good as his matchup. He's not a playmaking WR who can do everything on his own. He's dependent on guys on the outside and Sproles to manipulate coverage for him to make his awesome plays. Without that, teams will just double him all day and erase his production.
That's why to me adding another big time weapon this offseason has to be a priority.

For that reason, he deserves the TE tag, not the WR tag. Although I'm sure he's going to argue it. To me, it's in his best interest to get a deal done. If we're successful in labeling him a TE, we could do that for two or even three years at a better rate than what he wants.

Yes, but that doesn't mean there's only enough room for one marquee player. Every team has the same salary cap, and they all have a couple of big time salaries on their rosters. It's the nature of the business. When you have the top TE in the league that you groomed from a rookie who has develped tremendous chemistry on your team, you don't let him walk to another team and give them production.

I agree that we have to be smart with the cap. If Jimmay starts asking for top5 WR money, then we have a problem; however, there is nothing indicating this is the case (the franchise argument is different than long term deal). He seems to me based on the history of his actions and words to be a guy that will take a deal that is quite fair to both sides.

I wish we could get an idea of what the Graham camp is expecting. I don't see them going balls to the wall with this...but at the same time I'm sure Jimmy wants his due. I haven't seen much that says Jimmy is going to bankrupt us. I guess well find out if he really meant what he said when he only wants to play with Brees

Never under estimate a player. They have to treat this like it will be there only big payday.
