the tackle from North Dakota State is doing good.

I see where you pointed out that the Saints talked to him.

he just put that big boy from Arizona State on the ground.

Jordan Matthews beat the Utah corner a few minutes ago but Jalen Watkins broke up the last pass thrown to Matthews.

Watkins broke really well on the ball but Matthews could have had it.

he might be available in the mid rounds Chad.

you never know.

looks like he has some trouble with footwork at times today but he's powerful.

Aaron Colvin the corner from Oklahoma got hurt.

wasn't able to leave the field under his own power.

also do not see the tackle from Tennessee out here. I guess he got hurt yesterday or maybe it was today???

Who in your opinion is van noy comparable to in the NFL today?

Here's one take:
quote:

3. Kyle Van Noy, BYU Van Noy is another physical pass rusher with the ability to utilize his hands well to get off blocks. Kyle Van Noy sets the edge and holds his ground in the run game as well. He is a complete and well-rounded Outside Linebacker that can easily play all 3 downs.
NFL comparison: Clay Matthews
Draft grade: 1st round

Another one:
quote:

NFL Player Comparisons Not many current linebackers in the NFL possess the same traits as Van Noy without one or the other lacking in a certain area. I will say his elite speed and excellent quickness are similar to Denver's Von Miller. Although Van Noy is no where near close to possessing the strength that Miller does, he does have the same fluid athleticism and will make his money rushing the passer in the NFL. Similar to Miller, there is no doubt that Van Noy has the potential to be a star in the NFL.

Stanley Jean-Baptiste has been on my radar since watching a few Nebraska games. I think he'll be a better pro than college player with the right coaching.

Dude is big and fast, but raw.

I'd love to have him...

Van Noy sounds like he will be long gone. We need someone to post a report comparing him to Will Herring to encourage a slide to us.

Oklahoma CB Aaron Colvin suffered a torn ACL in Tuesday's Senior Bowl practice.
It's a brutal blow for a late-blooming player who turned himself into a legitimate prospect with a strong finish to his senior season. Rotoworld's Josh Norris believes the 6-foot-0, 180-pound corner could still come off the board on day three, but he's not going to be ready for Week 1. Colvin will likely have to "redshirt" as a rookie.

Might have been worth a 7th on investment value... if we had one

Phil Savage was on a local radio show here earlier this evening.

he was talking about how DT Aaron Donald has really helped himself so far this week. He's isn't the biggest guy but think about somebody like La'Roi Glover.

Donald has been whipping the competition so far. Same could be said for most of the D-linemen from the North squad.

He was also talking up Auburn DE Dee Ford a lot too. Ford is kind of a tweener, he could play DE in a 4-3 or OLB in 3-4. He was saying how he's shown good quickness and guys have had trouble containing him in pass rushing drills.

the last few years it seems like the D-line for both teams have done really well so I wonder how much stock we can really put into this. About the only O-lineman I can remember getting a lot of buzz was Eric Fisher last year.

tomorrow is really the last day to show something. They basically do walk throughs on Thursday and Friday is meet the players day for the fans... non football related shite.

the scouts are usually gone by Friday.

Wed Report on top and bottom performers LINK

UP

DE Chris Smith, Arkansas – Smith was on this list yesterday too, but he was even more impressive Tuesday. After wowing scouts with a ferocious punch Monday, he caught the attention of the crowd Tuesday with a quick spin move on North Dakota State offensive tackle Billy Turner. At just 6-1 1/8, 266 pounds, Smith looks like an 3-4 outside linebacker, but he’s been rushing with his hand on the ground and has stood out doing so. There wasn’t a single offensive lineman Tuesday who looked comfortable blocking him.
CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste, Nebraska – The Richard Sherman comparisons have begun because, well, mainly just because Sherman is the hot topic this week and Jean-Baptiste made a similar position switch from wide receiver to cornerback in college. That switch has paid off. At 6-2 3/8, 215, Jean-Baptiste has the size to play press coverage and he’s shown the ability to do it here in Mobile. Scouts say he needs to post a good 40-time at the NFL Combine next month to prove that he can run with receivers in man-coverage. Jean-Baptiste has met with the Bears, Rams, 49ers and Saints, among others this week, although that’s standard practice so don’t read into it too much.
WR Jordan Matthews, Vanderbilt – The 6-2 5/8 wide receiver has separated himself as the top wide receiver at the Senior Bowl. He’s attacking the football and showing the ability to adjust. A quick, fluid hip turn Tuesday allowed him to catch a back-shoulder throw while falling out of bounds.
LB Kyle Van Noy, BYU – I wasn’t overly impressed with Van Noy Monday, but he looked better Tuesday. At 6-3 1/4, 244, Van Noy is a big linebacker who got the chance to rush offensive tackles from a two-point stance Tuesday. He beat Nevada offensive tackle Joel Bitonio on one of those rushes, but I tend to think Van Noy will be best suited as an inside backer in a 3-4. He’s strong against the run, but also looks like he’ll be productive blitzing.

DOWN

DE Trent Murphy, Stanford - Yes, Murphy was on my “Five Up” list Monday, but scouts are worried that he showed up at 252 pounds. He appears to be committing himself to being an outside rush backer instead of trying to add weight and show what he can do as a 4-3 defensive end. That doesn’t mean Murphy won’t impress a team enough to go in the first-round, but it does limit his options.
CB Pierre Desir, Lindenwood - I’m always intrigued by good athletes who come from lesser known schools and I had Desir targeted before I arrived in Mobile. So far, I’ve been underwhelmed. Despite weighing in at 6-1 1/8, 195, Desir hasn’t been physical in press coverage and has been beat down the sideline too much. He may just be adjusting to the tougher competition, but he doesn’t look comfortable.
DT Will Sutton, Arizona State - Sutton probably hears about his weight all the time, but it’s a real issue. He looks out of shape and his 315 pound weigh-in backed that up. Sutton was playing about 30 pounds lighter during his dominant junior season and getting heavier as a senior didn’t help. He was inconsistent this season and looked stiff Tuesday. At one point, he was flattened by North Dakota State offensive tackle Billy Turner right off the snap.
OT Seantrel Henderson, Miami - At 6-6 7/8, 331, Henderson is a physical beast, but for the most part, he’s been more hype and less production since he was a five-star recruit in high school. He lost some weight coming into Mobile, which should help his footwork, but technique is still an issue. Falcons offensive line coach Mike Tice has been all over Henderson for his technique the last two days.

Utah State center Tyler Larsen has short arms, but he is quick off the ball and can use his hands well. He is tough and strong and does a nice job finishing blocks. Larsen jumped out because of his technique and tenacity.

-that's all that interested me HERE

if there is any player the Saints have to be getting the deepest skinny on it's gotta be Tulane WR Ryan Grant. If there's anyone who knows the Saints WR program it's Curtis Johnson

/thread- We have discussed OL coaching a lot. What about what we see of falling production from the WRs? How much of that might we think is from the departure of Johnson?

A lot. CJ is a really good coach. When Payton's decides to be done coaching the Saints, i wouldn't be shocked if CJ was to eventually be the head coach of the Saints.

Thats a discussion for a different day and years down the road.

LINK Have looked at as fits for Saints

Top 10 Skills in Mobile

Best cover corner: Lavell Westbrooks, CB, Georgia Southern

Westbrooks is disciplined with his eyes after his initial three-step read, and his ability to keep his pads over the balls of his feet while backpedaling allows him to make smooth transitions and efficient breaks on the ball.

While Nebraska’s Stanley Jean-Baptiste was impressive in press coverage, he seems to be still learning and getting more comfortable playing off the receiver. Westbrooks (6-0, 192) seemed to be the most well-rounded cover corner based on the practices I saw.

Best lineman footwork: Weston Richburg, OC, Colorado State

Richburg shows a suddenness and quickness that is unmatched by any other offensive lineman in Mobile. He has been matched up against Donald on many occasions in practices, fairing extremely well, and a big reason for his success is his footwork.

Good coaching and natural ability shine out of the Ram. Alge Crumpler, a former first-round draft pick as a tight end, sat in many offensive meeting rooms in his 10-year NFL career. He knows a good offensive lineman when he sees one. Richburg was the kid he told me to keep an eye on at the Senior Bowl, and he was right.

Best feet: Robert Herron, WR, Wyoming

Only 5-8 and 193 pounds, Herron may be part feline. That kid is as quick as a cat. He made corners whiff on several occasions as they tried to jam him off the line of scrimmage while in press coverage.

When defenders were in the off position, his cuts in and out of breaks on routes were sharp and sudden. Herron will make a solid slot receiver in the NFL.

--shows ya how subjective it is. First guy has Herron on his disappointing list. I had him marked as a 4th or 5th Rd possibility as a potential Lance Moore replacement
