I bought a Mini-30 last week. Haven't shot it yet but I do like the action on the Ruger minis

Thanks for starting this thread. I just inherited one the other day in a gun safe my wife's dad left when he passed away. It is the stainless steel version. Reading these posts it may not be able to hit the broad side of a barn, it has been in a safe since 1993 and appears to have been older than that. The gun is in fantastic shape, but you can tell it was an older gun before he put it away. First thing I did was call my brother to see what the hell it was.He said the same as you, only that it was better for nuisance animals and Coyote but could be used to shoot a deer if you had to and that he carried a similar rifle on his sniper team while he was in the service. Either way it was free, so I won't complain. And if it is anything like the other guns that are in his collection, he took damn good care of it.
