what makes you think this dude falls to 27? He's becoming more of a top 10 lock.

I've seen more the other way but as said, means nothing now.

Not trying to pick an argument about pointless mocks 3 months before the draft, but every mock or rankings I've seen in the last 2 weeks has Gilbert over Verrett. Is that a sign of Verrett slipping/Gilbert rising, or just uncertainty this far out? Gilbert would be my choice of the 2 given his size and return ability.

What dude? I wasn't forwarding any particular player falling. Just when ya come up with a Top 15 you can usually expect a few surprisers to slip 10 spots or to the 2nd Rd. LBs, Safeties, & TEs are frequently the most common fallers.

yeah, I don't put a firm handle on the rankings at all yet. No surprise if Gilbert ends up the top one.

Big Boards are different than mocks but I still always look upwards from the Saints pick (#27) and try to figure who could slip down out of those. HaHa might be the highest rated player I can imagine down to 27 this year. The Saints are strong on value. The more can't-pass-on the player is the less the position makes any difference.

You keep bringing up Mosley as a possible faller. I asked why, you dodged the question.

know that discussion has gone on. simply this...

only 3-4OLBs get a real premium push on their value. Any ILB or 4-3 OLB commonly fall in drafts. It's just the position impact/value.

So that factor, then Mosley is no sure fire top LB in this draft. More have Barr ranked higher. Just as many have Mack as high or higher than him. So it's a devalued position for the 1st Rd and Mosley might be the 3rd ranked one overall.

Number of LBs drafted before #27 by year-
2013 1
2012 1
2011 2
2010 3
2009 5
2008 2
2007 3

I'd be stunned if mosley fell out of top 20. Maybe barr pushes him out of top 10-12 range but that doesn't mean he falls out of top 20 still.

we need to polish up our draft semantics

I wouldn't be stunned. I'll go pleasantly surprised. The question is would he be a MUST PICK on value selection? I could see a CB or OT that might be lower on the big board they might take over Mosley. Still, all that is to be seen as to how free agency shakes out the team needs.

Not only would he be a must pick, if we passed on him, i would kick loomis in the nuts and join team lester.

the majority was prolly in that same camp for passing on Jarvis Jones. That worked out.

/good thread- What previous college players did you want more than the Saints pick that actually would have been better

And this is just me talking, maybe the homer in me talking, BUT for what the Saints need and where he is slated to go JARVIS LANDRY should be drafted by the Saints.

I don't understand how he isn't ranked higher.

guys that aren't big and don't have great times (4.53) don't get premium value.

I do think he could have a more impressive pro career than college. He does have the very most important ingredient for a receiver IMO- great hands.

A little more girth without losing speed and I could see some Anquan Boldin potential (a #54 pick for the same reasons).
