Draft Talk Big Board

There seems to be more early draft talk here than in past years. Last year at #15 we could hone the list of possibilities pretty close. The further down ya go the more fluid the choice becomes. This year at #27 compares closest to 2011 Jordan and Ingram (#24 & 28) and Meachem in '07 (#27).
Rather than look at positions and players specifically, a helpful insight is to get a sense of Big Board rankings (not mock drafts). By the draft we will prolly have a list of 12-15 players that would be categorized as no way available at #27. If any of them would be available they would likely fall into the the can't pass on category.
So it's way early but here's some early big boards for your perusal-
Scott Wright Draft Countdown
1. Jadeveon Clowney DE South Carolina
Rare pass rusher with truly freakish blend of size and athleticism.
2. Anthony Barr OLBUCLA
Super fast and athletic with dynamic pass rush ability off the edge.
3. Jake Matthews OT Texas A&M
Elite bloodlines and might be a better prospect than Luke Joeckel.
4. Teddy Bridgewater QB Louisville
Polished signal caller with good physical tools and top intangibles.
5. Greg Robinson OT Auburn
Incredible mix of strength and athleticism and just a sophomore.
6. Sammy Watkins WR Clemson
Athletic big play threat is a potential go-to target at the next level.
7. Taylor Lewan OT Michigan
Big, well-rounded, battle-tested blocker in the mold of Jake Long.

Explosive playmaker excels versus the run, pass and as a blitzer.
9. C.J. Mosley ILB Alabama
Undersized but very athletic with positional / schematic versatility.

Just the type of athletic pass catcher that is en vogue in the NFL.
11. Louis Nix DT Notre Dame
340 lb. space-eater in middle but can also penetrate and disrupt.
12. Justin Gilbert CB Oklahoma St.
Erratic but talent to be a shutdown corner and elite return man.
13. Mike Evans WR Texas A&M
Physically imposing wideout must answer questions about speed.
14. Stephon Tuitt DE Notre Dame
Jumbo DE / DT can play in 4-3 or 3-4 but not an elite pass rusher.

Two If RT is good in house I'm coming on board and don't see how CSP would pass on ODB. A dual role player much needed in return game that will demand attention and help free up other players in the passing game.

I've always enjoyed Draft-time of the offseason(even though we did start a little early this season). We are going to throw all kind of scenarios out there but it will all change depending on our Free Agency activity.

I like the idea of having another OT with upside (if indeed Brown is exed off) whether a LT challenger or a RT that might work sliding over to guard when Evans or Grubbs becomes disposable in a year or two.

fo sho, the point here is for folks to start getting an idea of rankings and who or who not might be available. Threads saying we ought to draft guys like Watkins are just a waste of space.

While we have absolutely no shot at him, I want nothing to do with Clowney. That dude has Albert Haynesworth 2.0 written all over him. As for me, I'd love to have Darqueeze Dennard, Justin Gilbert or Ra'Shede Hageman in the 1st round.

I'd prolly go Clinton-Dix. Safeties generally don't get the same draft stock value as much as cornerbacks or pass rushers. Vaccaro was the first in 2013 at #15. Other safeties drafted-
2012- #7, #29
2011- #34, #45
2010- #5, #14
2009- #33, #34
2008- #31

Cornerback Discussion
Looking for folks that have a take on these guys. So far the way I'm seeing it...
Dennard & Verrett look like the cream clearly at the top. I'd call them both no-way-available at #27. Either would be a must-take if they were.
Justin Gilbert looks perfect. He could be gone but might be available as well. Would be a great value. love the idea if he could come in and start as another physical type corner. 6'0" 195lbs
Fuller, Roby, & Joyner look like the next tier that might be stretches at #27 but likely gone by the 2nd Rd pick.

I've seen more the other way but as said, means nothing now. Pecking order should be clarified at the Combine. However they shake out, it looks like the #3 CB would be a great value. You can't hardly go wrong accumulating quality corners (seachickens). If Greer is gone it becomes a wonderful fit for need as well.

Missed that patriarch of the draft Gil Brandt came out with a TOP 50
His comments on some that might be of Saints focus in 1st or 2nd Rds...
18. Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State
Dennard (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) is very well coached and thrives in playing press coverage. He has good instincts and is a playmaker, with seven interceptions the past two years.
19. Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State
At 6-0, 205 pounds, Gilbert is a big corner. He played better this year than in 2012, posting seven interceptions. He averaged close to 26 yards per kickoff return this season.
25. Zach Martin, OT, Notre Dame
Martin was the MVP of the Pinstripe Bowl against Rutgers. He has good athletic ability. He plays left tackle, but his best position might be at guard.
--interesting as RT possibility then move over to guard when Grubbs or Evans goes
39. Cyril Richardson, OG, Baylor
Richardson (6-foot-4 1/2, 332 pounds) has played left tackle and left guard, but guard is his best position. He didn't play as well this year as he did in 2012.

47. Odell Beckham Jr., WR, LSU
Beckham (5-foot-11, 187 pound) won the Paul Hornung Award as the nation's most versatile player. He's a good pass catcher who also is skilled as a return man.

48. Antonio Richardson, OT, Tennessee

18. Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State
Dennard (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) is very well coached and thrives in playing press coverage. He has good instincts and is a playmaker, with seven interceptions the past two years.
19. Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State
At 6-0, 205 pounds, Gilbert is a big corner. He played better this year than in 2012, posting seven interceptions. He averaged close to 26 yards per kickoff return this season.
25. Zach Martin, OT, Notre Dame
Martin was the MVP of the Pinstripe Bowl against Rutgers. He has good athletic ability. He plays left tackle, but his best position might be at guard.

39. Cyril Richardson, OG, Baylor
Richardson (6-foot-4 1/2, 332 pounds) has played left tackle and left guard, but guard is his best position. He didn't play as well this year as he did in 2012.

Beckham (5-foot-11, 187 pound) won the Paul Hornung Award as the nation's most versatile player. He's a good pass catcher who also is skilled as a return man.
