I was pissed off at Drew too. And Ingram, but they're not the ones preparing to be the highest paid player at their position, and it pisses me off that he's going to be paid like the best, and yet he disappears against the best.

I am too but maybe a couple things:

A) Maybe he truly couldn't run like he could before
B) He could extend Drew's career with a weapon lik that
C) We need a dynamic player to go along with Jimmy that the defense has to respect the field vertically
D) It's always nice to keep the good guys that have had tremendous success under your watch. Jimmy has done everything as a professional we could pretty much as for. He's a warrior.

I feel ya brah but any team worth a sh!t finds out what you like to do the most and the best and takes it away.
I think all this freakin out over the JG situation is one year too early.
It will not get ugly.
If a long term deal is not reached that the Saints and JG BOTH like then he will be tagged I assume at TE and he WOULD sign it and happily play for one more year.
Then I will prepare to fret for 2015.

Ingram was really the only guy with any attitude this season. His play just didn't back it up until the end of the season.

I'm amazed as well.

If this is a GIANT PUSS then I wish we had a team full of them.

86 recp
1215 yards
16 f@cking TD's
0 fumbles
#1 target of Drew Brees.

Problem is, this year against the defenses that were physical with him he had:

26 rec
291 yards
5 TD's

Car 5/73/1 (Away)
Car 6/58/2 (Home)
Stl 2/25/0 (Away)
Sea 3/42/1 (Away)
Sea 1/8//0 (Playoff Game)
Phi 3/44/1 (Playoff Game)
SF 6/41/0 (Home)
NE 0/0/0 (Left with injury, can't remember when though)

That's an average of:

3.25 rec per game
36.37 yards per game
0.62 TD's

Unless he toughens up and learns to overcome physical defenders, teams have exposed him.

Get a bump on him and keep jamming him within 5 yards (or if you're Seattle, 15 yards), and you have a high probability to keep him in check.

I'm not saying he's garbage or that we should trade him. But if he comes to the negotiating table as if he has no flaws and he will continue to put up these season totals, then the Saints need to remind him of the above stats. Maybe even show him tape of the Seattle game. Because come next season, teams are going to start to be very physical with this offense.

This x100

That's why I think our best option is to tag him, either as a TE or a hybrid if it comes to that. Draft a WR1 to play opposite him and see how we perform with D's not focusing just on him. Let him work on his physicality. If he looks good, sign him long term. If he continues to get abused, trade him.

I'm just afraid to sign him long-term. If he continues to get dominated when we need him, there is no point in paying him that much. I wish he had 1 more year on his rookie deal so we could see how he performs with another big target on the field (after CSP's season-ending press conference I'm 90% sure we're taking a WR high).

Knowing our FO tendencies though, I just feel like they're going to sign him to a big, back-loaded deal very fast.

I'm positive lots of film viewing is in all their futures.
No doubt he has more to learn about blocking and using his arms much more to seperate from coverage. If he were a 7-10 year vet I would say book closed but he's still football young and can improve his game.

bottom lie the two players we have to have are -Brees and Graham

Trade bait -
Ingram
Brown
Moore
White
Plus we have to have a new dependable kicker and a very good go to WR

More than any claims that he wussed out in games he did not produce, it is just the proof the Saints need to pay him only as an elite TE.

The Saints lacked a true No. 1 wide receiver. Defenses adjusted to that and shut down Graham. If Graham deserved to be paid like an elite #1 wide receiver, defenses would not have been able to take him away.

Give defenses something besides Jimmy to be afraid of in the passing game.

What do you do with something that hurts you? Lock it up ,don't let it loose.Cover it up so no one can see it.

Defenses are going to try to shut him down as long as there is nothing else in our passing game to be afraid of.

Yeah what Jwho said.

Our offense was highly productive and feared long before we had Graham. I would not call him essential personnel.

I doubt we trade Ingram because it seems more likely we cut ties with PT or Sproles (or both) because of the young talent we have in him and Khiry.

Brown is a FA.

Moore is old and has no market value. We can probably get him to drastically reduce his contract though if we threaten to cut him.

White is a quality (and cheap) CB3. We need a corner who can play outside the numbers opposite Lewis, but getting rid of White would be foolish. He came into the season a CB4 and was thrusted into CB2 status (and even CB1 in Philly) long before he was ready for it. He is good. I seriously doubt we get rid of him, he is exactly what you want in a backup (or even a future starter).

Ingram has had a nice stretch, but he in no way can account for the loss of either of those guys. Robinson actually makes Ingram able to be cut. They bring the same things to the table, Robinson seems to have better vision, equal power and can actually catch.

You can't replace PT's worth to this team no matter how well Ingram played against Philly.

Great players don't get locked up 2 playoff games in a row

No way this includes playoffs. A rule like this has to apply equally, one would think.

Makes zero sense to use a ratio over a 16 week period for 20 teams and different ratios for the other 12.

He was the Saints leading receiver in Philly.

You know what great player do, catch 16 TDs in a season. You know how many guys have done that in the last 5 years? Graham, Gronk, Calvin Johnson.

He's elite and will get paid in New Orleans.
