Wonder who Jax State will go after?

i mentioned it earlier in this thread, but Nesbit at Hoover would be my first call... he's did a good job down the road at oxford HS.

he has done well at Jax State, but UAB has got to have someone that most people have heard of. I thought Neil Calloway sucked the life out of that program but McGee was worse.

I wouldn't mind them pursuing Nutt. At least they'd get some attention for awhile.

they need to go the opposite direction, imo... hire a young, ambitious coach who can recruit... like what Vandy did with Franklin.

That's what Garrick McGee was supposed to be.

Bill Clark would be an out of the park home run for UAB if they can get him. He knows how to recruit, raise money, and can flat out coach.

This thread is the first I am hearing about Clark, but he sounds damn impressive. I hope UAB goes after him. UAB needs to quit worrying about a stadium and instead first focus on things like a practice facility, player lounge and coaching offices. All those are much cheaper than a stadium and would get used 365 days a year instead of 6 or 7.

They did that, and he turned out to be the worst coach in the history of the program. At this point, I don't know how you turn the ship around. Maybe Clark is the answer, though.

Ron Roberts has also been mentioned. Any Louisiana folks got any thoughts on him?

Best possible hire for UAB. He will need a respected UA Alum to stand up for him against UA BOTs, his father would fit that role.

Already covered

quote:

A campus wide fundraising initiative was begun in October that includes upgrades for athletic facilities. Brian Mackin, director of athletics, said one project would be a football fieldhouse that would have locker rooms, a state of the art equipment room, a training area, coaches' offices and academic areas. A turf practice field is also proposed.

Would be a better job if they somehow got out of Legion Field. Is there anyway for this to happen for them? I know they brought up the issue of a OCS a while back. Whatever happened with that?

It got shot down by either the BOT or the voters, I can't remember which. If they give Clark time and some resources, Blazer football is about to be fun to watch. Clark is easily the best coach they've ever had. He's kind of like another version of Dabo. Coaches with a lot of emotion, plays to the crowd and players; just a big energy guy.

His overall HC record is 118-11.
