UAB football was a terrible idea as it is. They should just stop now before they put too much into it

UAB fans may be happy but how bad is it at UAB if a guy quits a HC gig to be coordinator again. lmao

Exactly this is nothing to be too happy about. They'll be happy for a few minutes, but then they'll end up with another Coach who cant win there.

I do think UAB could have a really good program.
Why? That program has been a dumpster fire for quite a while now. As bad as they've been it obviously goes beyond just a bad coach.

I'm no hawgalude, but put me in the group that says he'll be sucessful again at UL

Of course he will. The man can flat out coach an offensive system. There is no question about it.

I'm just glad he took an ACC job and is going to be stuck there for a long time.

Depends on who they hire, hell even Watson Brown had moderate success there.

UAB can only improve with a new coach. Anybody that pulls for UAB should be ecstatic. McGee was horrible as a coach. I don't notice Alabama or Auburn recruiting heavily from Birmingham. It seems to me that a half way decent coach at UAB could build a competitive program in Conference USA with local talent.

McGee seemed like a slam dunk hire. Now look where we are. This coupled with what's probably gonna be a shitty year next year for Alabama and I'm already fresh outta fricks to give for 2014.

And he's bringing in Chris Klenakis. That snaggle tooter motherfricker was a terrible OL coach and was even worse at recruiting OL.

More truth has yet to be spoken on this board. Klenakis was a shitshow of a OL recruiter and couldn't properly evaluate a ham sammich.

I have to play devil's advocate for a moment. McGee may not have been a great coach for them, but he had absolutely nothing to work with. The University of Alabama system refuses to give them the necessary resources to field a decent team. Don't judge Garrick based on the last few years. Very few coaches could make do with what he had available in Birmingham.

Birmingham schools aren't producing talent the way they once did.

Petrino has a hard time with OL coaches. Not many are willing to coach that flipping the lineman BS that he insists on, which vertually no one else in football does. That has to be the only reason he's leaving Neal Calloway at WKU and hiring Klenakis. Calloway probably has questioned it and BP doesn't like being questioned.

UAB Alumni would rather donate money to the medical/biomedical schools at UAB than to the football program. It is what it is. Nothing the BOT can do to a program with no money.

What's crazier is that our fans were screaming for McGee to be hired away from UAB (before he ever coached a game) after Bobby was fired so that we could keep the band together. They had it in their heads that we had this awesome staff.

Our fans really are fricking stupid.
