Ten years from now 5,000 yard seasons will probably be common place.

Sort of like how the Saints piled on meaningless stats at the end of 2011 when they had nothing to play for against the Panthers?

Weren't we still playing for the possibility of a 1st round bye in week 17 of 2011?

wait, a few years ago Brees was 15 yards short of a record and we ran the clock out. Was that to beat his own record so maybe there wasnt an urgency? dont remember... too... much... beer....

well we were battling SF for 1st seed position.

In any event, score of that game 45-17... sound a bit familar?

WWL has "their sports people looking at it"

Jazzy Jeff will look into it, as will the other lurkers who work for the news and such.

This will gain steam. At worst, there will be a 30 for 30 about it in twenty years.

No, it was the Marino record he was close to. He eventually got it in 2011.

Peyton Manning completed a backwards pass for 7 yards to Eric Decker that should be deducted from his game total. Thus single season record is still Drew Brees'. We must keep the statistical integrity of the game in tact and not make exceptions for quarterbacks with over sized melon heads. Plus, Drew beat Peyton in the Super Bowl. Not sure what this has to do with this issue but its a nice stat to revisit.

Done and done. How hilarious would it be if Peyton's "record" were overturned.
