It was good but slow. If the ending had been a little more exciting and the movie 15-20 minutes shorter I would have really thought it was great. Jennifer Lawrence was great.

Bale and Adams were intelligent con artists. I wouldn't call Cooper an idiot either, just an over zealous agent who got played. I don't see the comedy in any of that.

Exactly. Felt like a Cohen brothers movie.

Our senses of humor must be completely different. I laughed more during American Hustle than any other movie I watched this year.

I laughed out loud more during Dallas Buyers Club than I did American Hustle and that's a movie about a guy dying of AIDS!

What the hell was I missing? "Hilarious!" "fricking Rolling!" Was this supposed to be a comedy and I missed?

I laughed at the ice story and Louie CKs brothers death and chuckled a little at Lawrence taking credit for his plan.

Other than that, I don't know wtf you guys saw that I didn't.

It was ok to me. Moved a little slow for me at times. I guess I was expecting a little more of a intelligent, make you think hustle.
SPOILERS.......

I had them playing Cooper from the beginning. I guess I didn't find the entire con.........con enough?
I'm in the minority here when I don't think this was a "masterpiece." Thought it was rather bland.

I agree, his lack of experience made him think everything was gonna be the "next big hit"

You can only make ABSCAM so conny.

The performances really carried the film though.

Well no shite I'm sure half the people in every theater did as well. But I highly doubt you predicted the way they would con Cooper from the beginning.

Watched it yesterday, and thought it was just blah. Really slow in parts, could see that Cooper would end up getting conned a mile away, etc. Did anyone not realize who the boss from Florida's lawyer was? I noticed that immediately.

On a side note, did Louis CK ever tell Cooper the point of the ice fishing story? The movie ended and I felt bad not knowing the point he was trying to make.

they didn't con him from the beginning, though (which is what i expected).

***SPOILERS***

they didn't come up with that until the very end, in order to save carmine and after it was clear they were too deep

i actually thought the movie may go in the direction of telling us that they're not really good con men and their plan fails. that would have been hilarious, but it would work since we never see them do shite except that first credit line con
