This Saints fan can't help but point out that a Super Bowl in New Jersey poses a weather risk that pales in comparison to that of having a franchise in New Orleans.

The NYC area has hosted nine NFL championship games, and they've all gone off without a hitch.

The Saints lost an entire season of home games due to the weather.

But, I'll say again, it snows relentlessly, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from Thanksgiving to Easter in literally every city north of the Mason-Dixon Line. We all know this obvious fact.

Yes, having a franchise in New Orleans is riskier than having a Super Bowl in New Jersey, and it's a good thing that the NFL is averse to neither.

Hurricanes happen. That's the point.

Once in a century storms, like the one like above and like Katrina, happen.

Blizzards happen. But when you KNOW that they happen with more frequency in NYC in February than in NOLA in Feb, then you know that your comparison isn't strong.

How many hurricanes have shut down the Super Bowl? Remember, this is a conversation about SUPER BOWLS, not franchise placement.

My comparison wasn't Super Bowls in New Orleans to Super Bowls in New Jersey.

My comparison was the risk of having a football team in New Orleans and the risk of having a Super Bowl in New Jersey. Obviously the former poses more of a risk than the latter does.

There have been four Super Bowls in cold weather cities; each has gone off without a hitch. Ironically, the only two Super Bowls that have been significantly affected by cold weather and all that comes with it were in southern cities--Dallas and Atlanta.

There's just no argument here against having a Super Bowl in New York. You're all overreacting. This just isn't an issue.

Do some homework... Look back at how miserable the weather was in Detroit back in 1982.......... Plus the coldest outdoor SB WAS in New Orleans back in 1975...

Doesn't matter. You can play football outside when it's cold.

Still had a packed Silverdome, and none of the festivities were canceled or delayed. It gets really cold sometimes in Detroit. The only two Super Bowls that have been significantly affected by cold weather and all that comes with it were in Dallas and Atlanta.

Went off without a hitch.

Again, there is just no reason to argue about this. Sometimes football is played in the cold, and sometimes it is played in the snow. Super Bowls will occasionally be played in the elements, and that is not a problem. I know you really want it to be a huge problem so that the Superdome can host the game every three years (I'd love that too), but it just isn't going to happen.

When did I say this?????? I think ALL playoffs should be played at the home teams venue no matter the weather... It makes for great football at the most important time. However The SB should be played OUTDOORS in a warm weather climate city... Not outdoors in New Jersey.

You're right.

You're wrong. It should be played wherever the NFL wants it to be played. If the NFL wants it to be played in New Jersey, then there is no other place on earth where it should be played.

Get over the whole lights went out crap.

NO is the best place for a pure football game period.

A Super Bowl anywhere else where they keep the lights on for the entirety of the game.

frick snow football and the 0 fantasy points my kicker got last week

Domes are better. The only advantage HF teams should get is not having to travel, and noise when on D. Period. Because those are consistent: every team gets them. But not every team gets to play in a cold place and use that as an advantage.

Just seems unfair to me IMO
