GREAT POST.... Last year I believe one of the TEAMS stayed at the Hotel thats basically connected to Jacksons Bistro. I was having a cigar at the Sail Pavilion, which is an outdoor bar on the water next to the Tampa Marriott and Marina and I saw the team come walking by to Channelside Dr.... We walked along the water near the Forum and grabbed a bite to eat (Cuban Sandwich) at the famous Columbia Restaurant BISTRO which is in the History Museum... We do that almost every time we're in Tampa. So Beautiful.

For Nightlife, I would consider the rooftop at FLYBAR... I've only been a couple of times while visiting, but have had a great experience.

OH and how could I forget?!?!?!?!? If you like BEER, drink all the YUENGLING that you can! Some of you know this, but they don't sell YUENGLING in Louisiana.
They actually have a YUENGLING Brewery in Tampa that does FREE TOURS. It's about a 30 minute walk through with Tasting at the end... something to do if you wanna kill time.

I mean, Yuengling is good for inexpensive beer...but I don't think it's worth a trip to the brewery. I'd recommend Cigar City or Florida Ave if you want great local beer.

Tampatiger22. Not sure when last time you have partied in downtown st Pete but it is hopping these days. Lots if nice restaurants on beach drive and bars up and down central. A little more upscale these days but a lot if the riff raff you used to see has been run out. I surely suggest it over ybor. But I do like Jackson's in harbor island and as many have mentioned the lightning games are a blast. Hockey sucks on tv but live it is totally different

Great summary by Wilknutz. Funny how things don't change much in 25 years from when I lived in Tampa back in late 80's.
Only thing for experiencing a full contact sport for adults only, the best "Shoe Show" in town is at Mons Venus on S. Dale Mabry.

I'd prefer to stay in the city of St. Petersburg which is across the bay from Tampa, and is closer to the beach, has better, denser more walkable infrastructure and more of my favorite places to eat.
Of course, Ceviche Tapa Bar is a must - the downtown St. Pete location is the best, imo.
On the Tampa side, I wouldn't refer to the Ybor as a hipster area. There's a lot of people in Affliction and Tapout shirts or whatever those people wear now days. It's definitely a cool area to visit, but people from New Orleans will be unimpressed. (It's almost like a very miniaturized version of the French Quarter)
As the OP said, Ft DeSoto beach is great but I generally don't go this time of year because its cold. It's warmer than the Florida panhandle, but still not the keys. Honeymoon Island is my personal favorite.
Taco Bus is cool. It's similar to Taco Cabana in Houston, but better IMO. (Street tacos) - Plus they have vegan options, if any ladies you are with are into that. I preferred the downtown Tampa location over the St. Pete location but the St. Pete location is more interesting, I guess.

I have been to St. Pete many times . I have a few friends on the rays . I didn't say st. Pete was bad . I was replying to someone who said St.ete was better because there were less tampa people there . St. Pete is fine , but it is still better in tampa is all I was saying . I actually like st. Pete . I live close to bayshore so either is cool with me

This is an important point and Raymond James takes it very seriously at the USF and Bucs games I've been to.
