Pipeline welders don't do shite and make $. But frick doing that if I am educated.

The welders that work for me make more than me and I am an educated fricker. They probably make more than my boss too.

I'll jump in. I worked 18 years in church ministry as Youth Pastor and then Senior Pastor of a church. 4 months ago, I made a big shift: I am now in Higher Education. Working as VP of Student Life (Dean of Students) at a University. About to start working on a Dr Degree but not sure which direction just yet.

It's been a good shift but sort of starting on the bottom of the food chain compared to the other VP's who have been there longer than I.

True. Underwater welding = $$$. If it isn't the best-paying "trade" job out there I'd like to know what is better.

Except for the fact that it's one of the most dangerous jobs there is.

You make absolute bank, though.

I worked in one industry for five years following graduation, did a 180 and worked in a completely different field for a year or so, and am now back in my original industry hoping to make a move into owning my own business within said industry within 2 yrs.

Have you considered staying in your field in a different role??

Well it is good money but it is outrageously dangerous. I guess its what you are willing to risk.

What was wrong with the ME side of it? ME to Software sales is a pretty big change. Could always go back to the ME stuff.
