And there's no justification for using steroids and expecting baseball writers to ignore that when voting for the Hall of Fame, regardless of what anybody else in any era did.
So I guess it'll be put to a vote.

The fact Barry Bonds won't sniff the hall of fame is why I hate baseball and its stuck up fans.
The dude was the most feared hitter of our time, and we are suppose to pretend he never existed.
There wasn't a pitch the guy didn't see. He knew what it was before it left the pitchers hand and that's worth more then anything as a hitter. Put the dude in the hall

b) Anything worth remembering of Bonds is already in Cooperstown. He's just not in the northern wing with the plaques.

People that vote are the most prestigious fans, and most fans agree with those that vote

No one from his era should go in then. More than 50 percent were on something.

This can't be serious.

Baseball had no PED enforcement policy before 2003. IMO, there's no justification for baseball writers punishing players like Barry Bonds for taking steroids before 2003
Yes there is. Steroids had been banned by the MLB since 1991.

But baseball had no problem with steroids when they were making bank over the 1998 home run race. It was obvious payers were juicing, but baseball ignored it until they absolutely could not anymore.

You realize the purpose of a sports message board is to discuss sports topics, right?

You mean when Sosa and McGwire actually admitted to using steroids? Yeah...it's difficult for baseball to ignore a problem when everyone starts to come clean. You may have suspicions but you don't always have proof.

How many test did bonds fail? Whats the number?
I love how the league uses their best players for their scapegoat and make examples of them. Mean while their game had never been more popular and turned blind eye to the obvious.

Why should players be punished for doing something that wasn't illegal at the time that did it? Athletes in track and field and other Olympic sports who took steroids back in the 60's were never stripped of their medals by their governing bodies after rules were passed banning them. Retroactive justice is something you expect in some backwards totalitarian state, but not the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Furthermore, shouldn't sportswriters be consistent in their sanctimony? Miquel Tejada was suspended for 100 games this year for taking amphetamines, the drug of choice for players in the 70's and 80's. If the pre-2003 steroid users are considered no better than the post-2003 steroid users, then certainly the pre-2003 amphetamine users are no better than post-2003 amphetamine users.

I guess it all depends on how you define prestigious. There's nothing prestigious about them IMO.

Show me the link to the 1991 policy. It's bullshite unless it lists specific substances by their scientific names, as is done in every other sport's PED policy. I say this because the word steroid is used by lay people to cover all PED's, despite the fact that many of these substances are not steroids.

Everyone in baseball knew players were using steroids.
