Exactly. Good call. Illegal action did not affect the play any.

This may cost one team a spot in the playoffs in our fantasy league.

He owns Tom Brady.
Was up ONE point until this pick. Lost by one.

We may see a fist fight over this one.

Would you change the scoring if you were the commish of your fantasy league?

Yeah, it was holding. But he wouldn't have been able to make a play on the ball. Don't think he would be able to stop his momentum and come back for the ball in that short of time. It would've been intercepted holding or no holding.

Holding but Gronk really didn't make any effort to make a play because the ball so under thrown. If he had tried to swim or something it would have stood.

bullshite. You clearly see him plant his foot and attempt to move toward the ball when he is prevented to by the PI.

If you watch close you can see Gronk start to move to curl back to the ball and Luke is already wrapped around him and forcing him backwards. If Luke isn't touching him like that he can easily come up and attempt to fight for the ball.

This is precisely what I'm seeing. Look at the spot of the catch, the Gronks foot plant and the timing, he would have been right there if not held.

Why were the announcers saying "deep in the endzone"? He was about 3 feet away from it.

It's bizarre to me how it was characterized by the announcers because I heard them first before looking at it closely and couldn't believe I was watching the same thing they were.

It's seriously like some alternate reality. He's clearly being held when the ball is in the air and he's the target.

I see another thing that makes it hard to call, when he first plants his foot to move forward toward the pass, the initial contact and hold occurs that pushes him back, so it looks like, and the moment of the catch, he was further from the ball than he would have been if not held.

Gronk does not even try to make an adjustment to the ball until the DB is already 3 steps in front of him. If 59 is not even in the area there is no way Gronk beats 38 to the ball.

Again, it's not holding when the ball is in the air. Holding has to occur before the pass.

He's right though. When holding occurs after the pass, it's pass interference. Pass interference was the correct call on that play.

that doesn't make it uncatchable. that makes it unlikely for Gronk to catch it. There's lots of scenarios where Gronk can come up with that ball.

Oh wait. From a better angle, Lester (6'2") jumps up and to the right to make the catch. Gronk is 6'6". That ball was very much in play for Gronk. Duh, Gronk is further back from the catch but Lester is 4" shorter and had to jump to make the catch.
