It's been about 2-3 months since I last went to Mizado; I need to go check it out again soon. Next time I go for dinner I want to order nothing but small plates and their tiraditos/ceviche. The problem lately I've had with getting there is that there's been so many other restaurants I've been wanting to try before I head back to Mizado; and usually when I'm in a Latin mood I either want Spanish/Tapas or trashy TexMex food.

I refuse to back after the service was so bad.

I've honestly only had good service there.
We still try new places, but Mizado has an interesting menu and we have been picking at different things on it.
I still need to get to Maritza. Then a ton of places on Magazine.
I just think Mizado is consistent and gives me a different option for latin.
We eat Mexican a lot because that is the girl's favorite type of food. Usually go to Don Jose's for Tex Mex or Garces or Selina's for Latin.
I do agree bad service is a killer for me, I just haven't had that there yet.
Only truly bad service I had in the last two years was at Andrea's. I left 10% and felt it was too much.

I've been to Mizado 3 times now and have been impressed. It fills a great niche for the area: very light and interesting food at reasonable prices. Perfect for a summer meal before going to a movie. Love the grilled gulf fish with chimichurri sauce.

I have got the steak with Chimichurri but not the fish yet. Next time I will get the ceviche.
We always eat it before an activity. Sunday was before shopping on Magazine.
It's easy to get to as well. You can go in and eat cheap, or you can have an expensive meal.
I really enjoy the drinks.
I got the Mojito last time and it was excellent. Strong but without really tasting the alcohol.

Was visiting a friends new baby and house in Lakeview last night so we decided to give Mizado a shot. Looked at the reviews and was shocked to see how poor they were. Didn't get into the weeds we had already sat down plus I wanted to form my own opinion.
Had the guacamole India to start. Great mix of flavors. I think banana and avocado go really nice together and it was the first time I had seen such at a restaurant. It needed more salt though and I would have liked a little more kick too. Overall B
Ole lady ordered the skinny lobster tacos. At $16 it was really expensive for your portions without a side item. I mean I could have eaten the entire entree in 4 bites if I wanted. But it was extremely tasty. Grade C+
I went with the watermelon and tomatilla salad with tuna on top. Very very flavorful. Tuna seared perfectly. Grade B+
Environment I give an A+. Love the layout, the decor, good looking people everywhere, dance music in the background. Reminds me a bit of Rock N Sake in the CBD minus the guidos. Will definitely go back. You can tell the owners spent a ton of time and hard work developing everything from the menu to your credit card/check holder.
Eta: forgot to add service was excellent. Everyone from the manager, server, hostess, valet all seemed very interested in making sure we enjoyed our experience.
Also they forgot to bring my tuna out with my salad. I didn't even bitch except to say you forgot my tuna. Manager came out and apologized then when we got the bill I was shocked to see they took the entire entree off the bill. They went way out of there way for a minor inconvenience.

We've been once quite awhile ago. I remember enjoying it enough to try a second visit. Have to do that soon.

Hey, I remember how to get there.

Not on my list.
With the current proliferation of taquerias in NOLA, I'm unlikely to ever make it to this place.

Some of these new taquerias are mediocre and waaaaayyyy over priced. I guarantee you that the Mizado joint's food is as good as or better than a couple of the latest "hot spots" in the city proper. Although, that location is out of my comfort zone.

I completely agree with the current crop of new spots. I've tried all of them, I think, some better than others. They're all sufficient and I didn't mind that one in the old Byblos. La Casita is both good food and great value.
Johnny Sanchez could be a game changer.
