He's barely played this year. His body is old and broken down. Hire him as a coach maybe.

Hate to agree with Patrick . . . but this.

For what its worth the talking heads on NFLnetwork are saying his health is good, his dumping on the Houston coaching staff is what caused the dismissal, they didn't need him screwing up the atmosphere in the locker room of the Titanic.

He might be worth a look, his attitude could be better back home on a playoff team. He couldn't be expensive since the Texans are on the hook for a salary.

re: Ed Reed released by Texans: Should we?

Ed Reed in his prime, man, that guy could play. Whether it was taking an INT to the house or making a bone-crushing tackle, he could do it all, and that's why he's going to be in the Hall of Fame in a few years. Now, at this point in his career, it's apparent he's lost a step and is not the play-maker he once was. However, the Saints picked up Darren Sharper when he was supposedly in the "twilight" of his career, and look at the amazing season he had in the Saints' Super Bowl year. So, if the Saints suddenly signed Ed Reed, I would have some doubts, but would also be optimistic that he would have enough left in the tank to make a strong impact.

Yes he is worse than Harper. Harper is good at run stopping, which we could certainly use right now.
