LSU offered him $2000 on top of TOPS. So it would have cost me several thousand more just to send him to his state flagship.

Just went through all of this a couple of years ago. LSU definitely got beat by Alabama in scholarships offered. I got a small stipend from LSU on top of the TOPS program. Whereas Alabama would have paid for tuition, Room and board, etc.

Chose LSU though because Alabama seemed really fake and a school you would just be annoyed with two years into your undergrad degree

A bama alum gave me a free ticket. I had a great time. LSU needs to get their priorities in line. That campus is... Wow.

Also they have sooooo much piped in music. It's cheesy. I did love Thunderstruck though.

you realize LSU has built a new business college, a new Chemistry building, several residential halls, and is about to start building a state of the art engineering building?

Never seen so many sweater vests in my life. Frat guys, old guys, middle age guys, they all wear them. Don't understand it. even saw some Marty McFly type sweater vests.

Not nearly at the level and geographical span Alabama is doing.

People need to keep in mind the schools have different strategies and focuses. Their political and funding structures are different. It is not an apples to oranges comparison.

LINK

Look at the UA school of engineering, it occupies 9 buildings that by themselves would be equivalent to most midsize colleges. LSU is going to build "A" engineering building, does that bring the total up to 3?

It is a $100 million + project, so I'm assuming it will be an entire complex

The first time I went was the exact same as it was 2 years ago. These 3 made me feel like I was at a high school game. It seriously sucked arse and the cheerleader chants before the game was the worst part.

Bama has had huge enrollment growth (from mostly out-of-state students) in the last 5 years, as it's been a priority of the school and has been made easier by the success of the football team. As crazy as that sounds, incoming classes always jump in size after a National Championship. LSU is not looking to grow. It's already at 25k-30k students with nearly identical (actually slightly stricter) admission requirements.

Both schools are comparable academically. They are large state schools that offer a lot of opportunities across several fields. If you work hard, you can succeed and find a good job upon graduation at either school. Anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding himself.

exactly. Anyone who puts down LSU's Business college is a fool. The CIA program gave me an incredible amount of opportunities at some of the top companies in the country
