It probably was an attempt to send a subtle message to your child, despite what people on this board will say. Many of them are bombarded with messages everyday about various topics and don't recognize what is happening even though those messages are shaping their thoughts.

When my kid was in 2nd grade, he brought home an assignment on plurals. He had to write the plural word of what was in the each picture. One of them was two men and a kid.

Same shit, different school.

Teach him to hate liberals.

If he has any sense he'll eventually do it anyway, save him some time getting there.

The operative words being teach and hate.....that is exactly what is wrong with the country today, not enough people teaching hatred/ Now back in the day we saw hatred being taught in spades (no pun intended unless you enjoy that sort of thing and then have at it). Yes, teaching hate for those who have a different world view than you do...that is solid, sound parenting advice.....

It could mean "God-mother", which means that they are not separating church and state.

In THAT case, his two lesbian mothers could have divorced and each married another lesbian.

Thus, the "each of his mothers" means FOUR mothers.

Since they mentioned Christmas, perhaps they are supporting Christian sects that engage in polygamy and male domination of women? It didn't say two mothers.

It is what you think it is, cleverly worded with an out if one should accuse.

The real question is based on the substantial data of the success of children from the nuclear family, why anyone would promote any other lifestyle at this point? That does not say vilify another, simply promote what is shown to give kids the greatest chance of success?

If 20 years from now we find out kids with two lesbian moms produce more CERN scientists, by all means plant the seeds.

If it's part of your beliefs that homosexuality is wrong (and I'm not judging your beliefs), then it's up to you to have the discussion with your child as to why this situation presented in the question is wrong.

I'm leaving my thoughts on the issue out of it, but when it comes down to it, you'll probably have to have this conversation multiple times, given how much homosexuality is mentioned in pop culture alone today.

I agree with you. They could have just as easily worded it, "Matt got $50 from his parents."

Common Core is simply a set of "standards" 2nd Grade Math Common Core Standards

Curriculum is decided upon at the local level (district/school/teacher). The Common Core Standards do NOT dictate how those standards should be met.

Its not actually. Once you've thrown the one mom/ one dad model out the window there's no baseline whatsoever for how many Moms little Matty may have.

and yet it is far from impossible.

Sorry your kid isn't as bright as you thought.

Or maybe it's you making him dumb.

Why are so many people on this site a-holes? The thread was honestly meant to be a little light hearted. I thought it was a strangely worded question for a second grader. I think most would agree. If you can't understand that the VAST majority of 7 year olds in this country can't comprehend the concept of two mothers, and I'm not talking about step moms because most children don't refer to their step mother as mother, then maybe you are the one that isn't so bright.

If they used the word Christmas and not winter solstice, you are doing well; it must be a catholic/Christian school or something. A lot of kids have stepmothers.
