This is what our man Kipp Adams has to say about Quinn
JC shurburtt comparing Quinn with Sims
quote:
For me the area where Quinn lacks elite ability is explosiveness off the line and the burst to get yards after the catch at the next level. Does not appear as fast as his times suggest on film, and in open space he is not going to be able to make defenders miss, especially lined up outside. Inside slot receivers are becoming more and more popular and we are seeing them flourish, so that is likely where Quinn will do most of his damage.

quote:
Sims is a 6-4 receiver that can line up all over the field and create mismatches against shorter defensive backs. He is better suited to go up and come down with jump balls and is fast enough to be a deep threat. He's a high value, taller outside receiver at the end of the day. Quinn is not overly tall, does not have much more room for physical development. He's as fast as he's going to be, as big as he's going to be and as athletic as he's going to be. He's a slot guy long term. Great hands, speed, etc.- better than Sims right now. That likely, again provided both develop equally, will not be the case in 3-4 years.

Equal development means Sims passes Quinn

All of that tells me that those two guys have not watched enough film, especially what is already out on his senior year. I agree that he is probably not going to get much bigger physically, but to say that a guy who has spent his entire off-seasons playing baseball is not going to benefit from off-season work on the track,in the weight room, and college coaching is disappointing to read. I am already seeing improvement in his run blocking and physical style as a result of his first off-season (he did not play baseball this past spring).

You just don't understand. He's a real gym rat. A big hustler, high motor guy who has been coached up to compete at a high level.

Seems like the person who claimed this has a bias. A strong bias.

I didn't get to watch Barbe on Cox, if they were on there this year. Fox Sports New Orleans has not featured any Barbe games this year. I would love to see him in action.
I went to Ken Ramsey to see Barbe's season and they are 7 and 2. Their two loses are to Acadiana and New Iberia. Barbe does have a win over West Monroe this year and in the state semi-finals last year. Does anybody know what kind of numbers Trey had in those games?
One final note: Ask Leon Lett about Don Beebe.
