I find navionics shows sloughs and ponds that are not on standard map. However, it doesn't label everything like standard mapping does. Personally, I like navionics better.

Has anyone here seen the C-Map 4D in person?
The Furuno 1670F and 1870F supports these maps and can be had for 800-1000 with transducer.
I looked closely at the Elite7, HDS-5 and Garmin 740S yesterday at West Marine. We looked at areas that we had been fishing recently at Cocodrie... we could see the canals we had been running on the Garmin preloaded map, plus their topo map.
Standard mapping looked like you would expect on the HDS5...
THey had no Navionics loaded to look at.

I have serious buyers remorse on my garmin. Maps sucks
Did you also buy the topo map card?
I think its $100 and seems to add some good detail... they have it at West Marine.

Bumping... especially if anyone knows someone who recently bought a Furuno 1870F or 1670F with C-Map 4D.
That's what I want, but I want to see the maps first...

No, I wasn't planning on hiking from my boat.

You should go check it out... it adds a lot of little canals to your map...

The guy at West Marine in NOLA was talking about how supposedly Garmin just came out w/ or was about to come out w/ a map similar to Standard Maps for South LA? Anyone hear about this?
ETA: The Navionics app did help me get out of all the little canals between Lena Lagoon and Lake Borgne yesterday

GPS Mapping??? Navionics? Standard Maps? Garmin? Other?
Those who have a Lowrance HDS, do you have the Standard Map chips? How do you like it?
ETA: Which mapping system is best for Louisiana marshes? I'll mostly be fishing in Shell Beach, Hopedale, Lake Borgne, etc.
Neauxla... go check out this Furuno 1870F thehulltruth thread out and tell me what you think...
The 1670 is 798 shipped with maps and transducer, and the 1870 is 998. Cool looking maps and machine, just wonder how accurate they are.
Edit: I was told the Furuno is overkill for our fishing... but its the same price as the Lowrance ELite7 and the Lowrance HDS-5, and a few bucks less than the Garmin 704S.
