Sounds like the city councils in towns across the south like Jackson.

Sad deal for those that are hurt by it.

A good read on the subject of abuse of power and kickbacks is called Dead Aid. It discusses why aid to African nations has actually done more harm than good because of kickbacks and outright theft by those in power.

Note: I am not attempting to make racial correlations...the situations are simply analogous.

UPDATE 3:35 p.m.: Deadline passes with no sign of GSU players

...players also met with new interim coach Dennis "Dirt" Winston at 11 a.m. and then skipped out on a 12:30 p.m. walk-through.

They are not going. There are already people out there saying that players have already leaving campus to go home (to their respective hometowns).

This is an extreme situation, but I wonder if it will give the idea to players elsewhere.

Well I assume it will be a voided play in that case...

Has anyone asked why the university put itself in this position in the first place? Why the hell did they bus players 20+ hours round trip to Indianapolis to play Alcorn?

Because they play in all these stupid "classics" in Chicago, Indianapolis, Orlando, etc. I'm sure the schools make money off of these classic, but the benefit is probably offset by the fact that they have to transport and board football teams roughly 1000 miles away from where they are located. It would be like La.Tech and Southern Miss deciding that it was a good idea to go play a game against each other in Seattle.

Sorry, I just can't feel that bad for the university. There are hundreds of small schools all over this country that have no where near the funding of LSU, Alabama, Texas, etc., etc., but yet they somehow figure out a way to make things work on their limited budgets. Probably not to this extent, but every year, it seems like a few HBCUs are having some kind of internal issue within their administration and athletic dept. Hell, just look at Southern. It's been a disaster internally since Pete Richardson was fired

What sort of financial input does the Grambling booster system have?

I am guessing that Grambling does not have a lot of alumni donating money to the school, let alone the athletic program, though I could easily be wrong about that.

For instance, without TAF, LSU would be up the creek without a paddle.

Right now, he probably doesn't think much about it.
