Don't get me wrong, not just anyone can put up the numbers Mariota has... But I think he benefits from the system at Oregon where they always seem to be putting up incredible offensive numbers until they play a strong defense, as opposed to A&M where manziel is the system and he also seems to have solid games against the best defenses, lsu notwithstanding.

While I agree that Manziel is a slightly better college QB, don't doubt how much positive effect Sumlin's system has for Manziel.

With the back up in both last year and this year, while not at Manziel levels, the offense was still extremely potent. In the first half of the Rice game, their offense put up 315 of their 486 yards (65% of their offense) and 28 points (54% of points scored). On top of that, Joekel threw for like 190 yards in the first half.

Granted that is against Rice, but Sumlin has a history of potent offenses throughout his career.

If you take anything Skip Bayless says seriously, then I just don't know how to help you. That's a personal problem.

Mariota is the real deal. And I hate Oregon. He looked like an NFL QB on Saturday. I had thoughts that he was just a system QB and he wouldn't translate well to the NFL, but I completely changed my tune on him. He will be a top 2 or 3 pick in the draft if he decides to come out.

I honestly don't know much about Mariota so I won't say much about him. But I do know he has one of the best RB's in the country, so I'm sure that helps elevate his play.

Mariota isn't completing passes at as good of a percentage as Manziel. His completion percentage is actually worse this year than it was last year. Also, Mariota plays in the Pac-12 it's a lot easier to do well in that conference.

The difference, Mariota has only played a full game, once this season. But yea, Manziel is vastly superior.

Mariota won't be putting up 600 yards of offense on Bama's D

and I somewhat agree with Skip, Mariota loses to Ole Miss but not Arkansas. Oregon would have had both games over by the 1st quarter though.

Manziel is the far superior player. It's not even debatable.

If Oregon's defense was as bad as Texas A&M, does Mariota have the same record as Manziel?

Manziel plays every week knowing that he HAS to score 40-50 points, otherwise his team probably loses.

This isn't even debatable right now.

I'd take JFF all day over Mariota.

I agree. Mariota isn't an accurate passer and he isn't as dynamic as a runner as JFF is. He's alright in Oregon's offense, but his completion % wasn't even 60% before the Washington game.

If you switched Skip with a potato I'd still be doing something else when he's on tv.

I haven't seen Mariota play but I could see this being true since Johnny is great at improvising which is probably more of a necessity at TAMU

Echoes my opinion. I've tried to dislike the guy for some reason but he's won me over. He'll be a better NFL QB than Manziel, and runs that offense beautifully. He doesn't have the WR's A&M has, but has better RB's around him. He's thrown for 17 TD's and no INT's while only being sacked 5 times. He doesn't make mistakes.
