I want to apologize for the behavior of students so far this year. After going to Starkville and witnessing a fight between our students and some of their older fans, I was truly embarassed. Combine that with the F-you Florida/Auburn/whoever chants and STTDB, it's pretty hard to get fired up. Personally I'm so embarassed of these chants and I refuse to yell along with them. The Geaux Tigers chant and other chants that are such classics are done so quickly and rushed that they don't sound good at all any more. The band cheers aren't rushed, they go the tempo the band plays them. They also need to be quick because you don't play music when you team is calling plays

Should we start losing to correct this? Fans may be spoiled and expect a win but I don't believe we take it for granted. No one in my section ignores the game or fails to cheer or gripe after a play. Maybe people in your section are busy talking, texting, drinking and just fail to pay attention so they don't cheer. I think that's generational. Older tiger fans I see are locked in on the game to the point of over analyzing and ignoring everything else around them.

How old are you? I was at LSU in the 80's with Stovall, Arnsparger and Archer as coaches. If you think today's students are deplorable then you would have called for a ban of LSU football games with the behavior of the students in my day.

Quit reading after you mentioned the price of tickets. LSU has cheaper tickets when compared to several SEC schools.

This might be the most insightful post i've ever seen on the rant.

You sir see things as they are.

We have yet to have a true night game (it was raining) against a formidable ranked opponent. And also we held Florida to 6 points because of how rowdy we were this past Saturday during the DAY. Tiger Stadium is and will always be the loudest in the country!

70's checking in here. Yes, that went on in the 70's too. Plus, we had idiots who though it was cute to throw empty whiskey and vodka bottles at the other team's cheerleaders when they came across the stadium to do a cheer in front of our student section (yes, they really used to do that, and yes, we really were able to sneak in fifths of liquor).

I hated the boorishness of LSU students then and hate it now. There is a line between being a raucous, yelling, emotional fan and just being a dick and gratuitously yelling at the refs to try to be funny for those around you.

More police and more rules is NOT the answer. Peer pressure is. Once enough students call these dicks out a few times, these cowards will stop and everyone will have a better time.
