What would you ever possibly do on a phone that requires that kind of speed

Faster network speed = people on and off the network faster, freeing it up.

Maybe I'll be able to look at the internet on gameday in Tiger Stadium now. #crossesfingers#

Why you put nexus 5 compatible.. Thought Google said screw Verizon because they slowed down a lot of the updates on the last nexus so Google isn't making this one Verizon compatible..

I have gig service with EPB in Tennessee already. I can't use it because no servers out there can keep up with me. The speedtest servers can't even do it. So you really can't make use of it...

bc verizon's AWS LTE network runs on LTE band 4 which is compatible with the nexus 5. it will be awhile until the towers for band 4 cover a large portion of america though. verizon will not be selling this phone but you can buy if off contract from google, insert the sim card from a phone on verizon and it will work.

I am about to come back from being in Japan for three years does verizon have sim cards now? I still have unlimited everything bc I put a hold on my account. I want to buy the Nexus 5 if it will indeed work with verizon, so any insight on if it will work for sure would be appreciated.

When you get back, ask verizon what areas they have rolled out the LTE band 4. those are the areas that you can use the nexus 5. the roll out just started today only in New York. so it will be a while before LTE band 4 covers large areas of the US

How many bands of LTE are there?

What's the current LTE right now?

also (not that is matters), before LTE there was 3G. What does that mean? I know it's 3 gigabyte, but per what?

For technical details on LTE and a list of its designated operating frequencies, bands, and their common names, see LTE Frequency bands.
Bands 33 to 44 are TD-LTE-Networks.
Networks on the global LTE-bands 1, 3, 7, 28 (FDD-LTE) or 38, 40 (TDD-LTE) are suitable for future global roaming in ITU Regions 1, 2 and 3.
Networks on LTE-band 8 (FDD-LTE) may allow global roaming in the future (ITU Regions 1, 2 and 3) (Long-term perspective).
Networks on LTE-band 20 (FDD-LTE) are suitable for roaming in ITU Region 1 (EMEA) only.
Networks on LTE-bands 2 and 4 (FDD-LTE) are suitable for roaming in ITU Region 2 (Americas) only.

Verizon is currently running on band 13 and starting band 4. I think the dual bands are to help when they start VoLTE so that it doesn't clog their network

I'm pretty satisfied with 4glte unlimited on a mobile device.. Maybe could see needing that with multiple tethering.

faster is always better though.

Ok thanks I don't officially come back from Japan until March, but I will be in Cali from late Dec to Feb for recruiting school. So maybe by then it will be more prevalent

so what happens when out of a band 4 territory? No service on N5?

No lte service possibly will have CDMA 3g, but not sure on that. Band 4 will eventually cover the same areas as band 13.

Doesn't matter where you buy the nexus 5 from, they aren't going to be compatible with the Verizon network period.. Our at least that's what I've heard.. Google is making a point to Verizon for slowing down all the updates on the last nexus device..

because when I'm connected to my shitty office wifi, sometimes it takes minutes to download a PDF. So i switch to LTE and boom, downloaded in .5 second.

But you're at your office...which should have a computer for you, or is that thinking to rational?
