Good to know.

If you have any questions about paint correction, that is my specialty...

That's what I've always suspected -- how often do you change when using conventional oil ??

I change every 8-10k. Have 190,000 on my truck and have always done it that way.

When I was using conventional on my last vehicle I changed it every 5k or so just to be safe. I've never learned a definite answer. I was using Castrol GTX High Mileage.

I use a WIX filter or NAPA Gold (same thing) on everything but the boat - boat gets a Motorcraft FL-A1.

For oil I use Castrol.

ETA: F250 uses a Motorcraft filter and DELO oil

Busted out my porter cable for the first time a couple of weekends ago...apparently I should have used a little more abrasive compound. I noticed I still have some very light hairline scratches in the paint when under certain lights.

ETA: Used Poorboys polish w/ sealant and and the orange lake county pad...not enough correction/cut in the combo.

IMHO, an oil analysis should be done every other oil change. $25 could save your engine from major troubles down the road by letting you catch problems before they become bad

Never had this done. Can I just bring my old oil somewhere to be checked?

Do the Lake County pads work with the backing plate that comes with the PC?

No I'm finally done there. Back in BR for the time being. I was only supposed to be there 6 weeks and I ended up staying almost 3 years.

Honestly I'm not 100% sure as I ordered one of the package deals from autogeek that comes with everything you need. I'm thinking no though. Autogeek has a backing plate that has Velcro on it to attach the pads.

What!? I've never heard of a PC DA polisher breaking. My buddy who details professionally has one that he has used for about 8 years.

Give them a call and I bet they'll replace it. I also use a PC DA polisher.

I think what you needed was a 2-step polish. I used Meguair's (Sp?) M105 with an orange pad followed by Menzerna 4500k nano with a blue pad for my dad's truck up there^. The depth of the gloss is unreal.

What brand of car is it? Clear coat hardness varies for each make of vehicle.

No. The included pads with the PC suck. You need to order a backing plate from Autogeek. I have a 5" and a 3" and use 5.5" pads for large panels and 3.5" pads for small areas. I'll post some other pictures later of my work.

EDIT: You should also give microfiber pads a look. A microfiber cutting pad with Meguair's M101 is the hardest cutting compound/pad combo I've found.
