So you don't have a response to the article other than saying it's dumb? Solid. How much does an Ole Miss education cost?

I agreed that the building should be renamed.

no, it's the University of Mississippi's problem b/c they have ineffective marketing that does a poor job branding.

No it's not. You might as well call everything with a very well recognized nickname to be bad marketing. It's a completely stupid argument on your part. The brand is Ole Miss. It's as fricking retarded as saying that your school's name should be changed since most people weren't aware that its proper name is "the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas". Who gives a flying shit? The brand is Texas A&M, and people know it.

That's just a small portion of the report. What's so unreasonable about the rest?

Putting various symbols into a proper historical context in a learning environment isn't a white guilt thing as much as you may want to make it one.

It's not a problem for us at all. Seriously, how often are people looking for clarification of Ole Miss vs the University of Mississippi? No one gives a frick.

Clearly your schools marketing team thinks its an issue or it never would have been brought up.

It's not that y'all have a nickname, its that its used over the university's official name in areas such as in athletics which can be confusing for people who know nothing about the school. When you are trying to reach new markets you don't want to confuse the consumer.

actually we DID change our official name to Texas A&M and its been the school's proper name since the early 60s.

No. The reason they brought it up is the so-called racist connotation of the word since apparently a plantation owner's wife was often called Ole Miss. Your argument is flat out retarded. Why should I give a frick about people too stupid not to realize that the University of Mississippi is Ole Miss? I'd rather keep them off campus then on.

Nothing is unreasonable. Promoting both Ole Miss and University of Mississippi sounds like a good idea. Seems like we've always done that though.

I'm just confused on why a committee needs to be set up and consultants brought in to do some of these things.

Vardaman was hard-core. Here's a quote from Wiki,

once calling Theodore Roosevelt a "little, mean, coon-flavored miscegenationist."

I don't know what it means, but it doesn't sound good. I could get behind renaming the building, as long as they don't go too far in the other direction.

How about the Archie Manning building? Nobody should have an issue with that.

You should give a shite if you want your schools brand to be more well known. Having multiple names makes it more difficult and confuses people unfamiliar with the school.

Again, I'm not saying Ole Miss is bad, just that you should go with one or the other purely from a marketing perspective.

If Ole Miss is so great then rename the school Ole Miss.

On top of that, IT DOESNT EVEN SAY DO AWAY WITH OLE MISS

It only says to promote University of Mississippi along with Ole Miss.

Let's just erase history and pretend it didn't happen.

You seem to be the only one who gives a frick. Plus does "Ole Miss" being on a resume look professional? No, and no one else gives a frick.

That's what they want to do.

What the? Why would Ole Miss look unprofessional?

One more time, I am saying purely from a marketing perspective it would make sense to have a single name for the school.

I don't know why this angers you so much. I'm not saying dump it. I'm saying I would understand it.

Good lord you need to get the stick out of your ass.
