Exactly that. I'd rather forgo some "luxuries" to have the mother of my child raise my kids versus some day care worker and/or mexican who makes 28k a year.

Lafayette has some really good public schools, the elementary school my kids would go to if they went public is A rated.

There isn't any reason I can think of for anyone to be criticized for being willing to exchange an honest day's work for an honest day's pay, be that person a parent or not.

If I had it to do all over again, I would have been a stay at home mom and learned to live within that means. If there is reincarnation, I will refuse to work after I have my children. It is just not worth it. Live is way too short!

Ive never understood why someone would create a person, then immediately farm them out for 8-10 hours a day to someone else. Why TF did you have that kid if you dont want/cant afford to raise it yourself?

"It's only 8-10 hours 5 days a week!" you say? Thats most of the kids waking hours. There is no "quality time", only quality moments that arise out of quantity.

Makes no damn sense to me.

You and the wife can drive a Corolla instead of a beemer, have two bedrooms instead of four, chicken thighs instaed of prime rib etc....whatever it takes to bear the responsibility for the life you chose to create.

We can afford our child and don't plan on having more than we can afford. Just trying to get experiences from those who have done the same.

Negative, Mrs. SteveLSU35 does way better than I do. We both work, but maybe one day I won't have to.

Can you think of any reason to criticize someone who leaves their own child for purely selfish reasons?

Do you think children dont need their parents? Do you think it doesnt matter to them?

Really?

Grow a pair. I can't believe that you had enough sac to even reproduce....if it was you to start with.

She takes care of the offspring.

Turn in your fricking man card, wimp. Limp-wristed a-holes like you really do frick it up for real men.

You should probably stay home and let the baby suck your tit.

All of that is just a joke, BTW.

You are a true dick for even asking the question and relating it to money.

Please make this poor, new soul the only one that you ever reproduce. You hAve a baby. It was about planning and money BEFORE you decided to bring another mouth to feed into the equation.

Man the frick up and give the kid a good life. Let her stay home and do your damn job as a man.

Your welcome.

this is probably actually true up to a point...it is actually kind of a shame that society has evolved toward the tendency to shift that responsibility off on others (especially sad when its the government).

Unfortunately people cant be relied upon to do this, so society saw fit to mandate state guided education.

After a few generations, people just arent smart enough to do it correctly themselves unless they really put their mind to it. The government schools are getting shittier too every generation.

My complaint is with the parents who pull up to the daycare in an Escalade.

I admire homeschoolers (except the crazy bible waving ones).

I make 55k a year, she makes about 38. We don't have any debt other than our house and daycare would run $700 a month.

Mine was a teacher, so I guess she made about that.

She stays home with our 4 now. Well, 2 of them are now in private school.

I make more than 55k, but I'm not pulling in operator money in non-bonus years. It helps a lot that I'm able to be home every night at 5:30 and travel very little for work.

We don't fund any retirement accounts, but I'm not worried about 30 years from now too much. I can always live with one of the kids, amirite?

quote:

I think it would be valuable to have her watch the little one and no stress from both of us rushing to work etc.

"Valuable" is an understatement. You can't put a price tag on peace. Do it and just make it work. Don't drive new cars, only buy clothes for yourself when you have to, eat out less often, etc.

When will she start working again if she stays home?

Will she be able to find work in the future?

I say send her to work...
