Will we ever see a back come close to that 4,000 career yard mark again?

Better Question - When are we retiring Faulk's number?

He just recently retired. That coupled with the fact that he was actually excellent in the classroom makes me believe it will be sooner than later.

I hope, at least. He was my childhood hero.

Imagine how many yards Dalton would have had without Gary James taking away a some of those carries in 1982-1985.

..at least another 1,000, perhaps?

It will happen. With ncaa starting with playoffs and plus one games, it is quite possible LSU will have 15 or 16 game seasons. Over 4 years a rb might have an 12 additional games to break Faulks total

My first game ever in Tiger stadium was when Kevin Faulk took the lead for the all-time rush yards in LSU history!

That is when my love affair with the Tigers began.

I believe that longest run for Hilliard was against Notre Dame. If he was only faster going north to south it would have been a TD

Faulk had a $hit-ton of receiving and return yards, too.

He once beat a Houston team all by himself in some sort of weird 1-on-11 football game.

Did you or a relative go to LSMSA in the first class? A chess player from Cutoff?

it still amazes me that neither kevin faulk or dalton hilliard sustained an injury preventing them from meaningful pt. damn, they got hammered consistently

not all true, Hilliard was hurt most of 1983 after FSU game and was limited the rest of the year, Faulk got hurt vs Idaho and was limited (but Mealy picked up carries) most of 1998. Not major injuries, but nagging ones, apparent when Hillard got cuaght from behind in 1983 65 yard run vs Wash, Faulk also missed all of Indy Bowl in 1997 (Mealey went for 200+)

Ace Midnight - no. I was born and raised in New Orleans. Chris is a BR native and remains there. I used to go watch him play when I was a kid with my aunt and uncle (his mom and dad) - went to all the LSU home games from 73 - 85 (plus a trip to South Bend in 81!).

Then I became the black sheep of the family when I chose to go away to Auburn for school and became a different Tiger fan!!

Two pairs in the top 10 that were in the same backfield. Hilliard-James and Faulk-Mealey. Nice running games there.

He probably did, though. He got a medical redshirt and play two seasons of 14 games and two of 13 games. That's 54 right there. Plus a medical redshirt.
