This is only true if you buy a "Pro" or "Ultra", aka Commander or Officer sized. Most, if not all, full sized Kimbers have a standard barrel bushing and guide rod.
And for the OP, 10mm is a good bit more expensive than 45 and is harder to find. But it is a hoss. It beats the 45 by a sizable margin in terms of power, but if this is your first 1911 I would stick with 45.

I bought the Carry version of the nightmare. I had to send it back because it threw brass back in my face almost every round. I tried 5 types of ammo but it didn't matter. Sig had to replace the ejector. Soon as it came back from Sig it went up for sale. It was a cool looking gun with a great trigger out the box I just couldn't get over the brass to the face.
