Perfect time for Joe to leave the Yankees considering next year and for next 2 years they will be rebuilding

If it's the Castro and Rizzo thing, then I get it. And I guess that's what I'm trying to say...if I'm the Cubs, I guess I look at that and say it's not worth it to keep you around. Both those players have a world of talent at their fingertips. Who gets it out of them? For one, Castro just has to stop being a dipshit. And Rizzo needs patience. 76 walks isn't bad at all, but swinging at terrible breaking pitches at your feet is. Clean that shite up.

I'm with you.

As the reports are coming out from the meeting, theo said it wasn't about wins and losses, so it's clearly the lack of development (regression in some cases). Just simply a lack of trust that he can develop the next wave of players (which will be very very important).

I don't think anyone faults dale for losing 96 games with an outfield that ended with nate, mcdonald and boggy.

Other than gammons no one has mentioned him and most of the cubs beat said gammons was off on that call. Who knows though.

Well 2014 for the cubs likely won't be much better than 2013 so it's not like he'd be stepping in to a team ready to make the jump in chicago. But I certainly think it's a real possibility.

Next year it wouldn't surprise me if the Cubs are better than the Yankees....

No Mo
No Andy
No ARod
No Granderson
No Youk

Gardner may start season on DL
Cano may leave as FA
CC is finally regressing
Hughes and Joba are both gone
Vernon Wells and Ichiro will both see 400+ AB again
Tex will return and struggling
No clue what Jeter will do and age may have finally caught up with him

Plus farm system doesn't have many MLB ready players and through FA they have no impact players.

Yea...for joe I think it's a question of does he have the patience for the cubs (because i don't think they're far), and does he even want to manage. If they will give tim mccarver a job then surely joe can take some time to commentate.

Girardi to the Cubs isn't too far fetched.

Why would Girardi leave the Yankees. I'm sure he's well-paid there.

Well it's not like we'd ask him to do it for free.

As for other reasons, he came up with the cubs, grew up in illinois, went to northwestern and his contract with the yankees expires this year. Also as tducen posted above the difference between where the teams are going isn't too significant.

Well i figured he wasnt the guy for the long haul but didnt think he would be gone this soon.

Let's see who they get to replace him. Figure it will be a medium/big name guy since the plan is for them to contend here pretty soon

It's going to boil to down to if Girardi wants to come "home".

They will find a way to be relevant

I personally think he stays in New York.

Good point...can't be another placesetter (although the cubs paid dale well enough to where it wasn't like he was gone regardless after three years) type hire. Someone who can suck it up for a year, maybe two, and then be ready to really make hay.

I'm hoping Girardi returns home. As most everyone knows he grew up there, went to Northwestern, and played for the Cubs

And as crazy as it sounds the Yankees are a sinking ship and the Cubs are on the rise

Girardi hasn't lived in CHI since 06' and his family has been living in NY. It's going to be a hard sell

They didn't fire Sveum without knowing that a better manager was willing to take the job. It'll either be Girardi or Gardenhire if you listen to reports out of Chicago. Mike Maddux is also in the discussion..

Yep, especially because it's not like we're talking college aged kids that would be stepping out soon anyway.

But i'll keep my fingers crossed.

With the new born this is the least I watched baseball ever. I watched beginning kf year got disgusted with some things and stopped. Looking at some stats the Castro thing is scary. Cubs may need to sell on him.
But that's really not watchibg a game since the break. Surprised dale got the boot but not disappointed
