Since is appears LSU doesn't have as much "quality" linebacker depth as we once thought, should we be recruiting more linebackers this year? Landing Garrett and Young would be a great start but maybe an additional 2 or 3 guys should be looked at.

True dat!!!

The 2012 recruiting class was thought of as a great class in the line-backing position. What are the thoughts now? To early to grade?

Kwon Alexander
Ronnie Feist
Trey Granier - transfered to ULL
Deion Jones
Lorenzo Phillips

'IN CHIEF WE TRUST" you know the man has something up his sleeve. He hasn't let us down yet. He's the only DC to get Johnny football under control. Our D is at it best when he has two lock down corners he trust. So back away from the edge till after the Georgia game if he don't come through then jump, but we'll b alright!

I agree, but the "D" is just not as dominant this year in the front 7. No matter what people think.

Our defense is not there yet. This is not a knock......too young....our only hope is to play run up the middle ball control...don't score too soon.

I believe in Leon, first and Jones at maybe some others that haven't played much. But at least those three.

We solid in talent just young.

I know this switch would never happen because it is to late in his career now but I sure would have loved to see Kenny Hillard at LB now looking back.

What the hell happened to Feist and Debo Jones? We might have wished that Granier stayed aboard now.

What I noticed most was our linebackers sitting back waiting on the play to develop and come to them instead of hitting the gaps and avoiding the blocks. Kwon has shown a little bit of instinctive football but we need to see a lot more of it

What happened to Ronnie Feist? Did I miss something? Weren't they trying him out at DE during spring? He had some significant playing time at LB last year.

Chablis has always valued speed over size. The MLB for us needs to be both and be able to get us in the right position. They ain't one on the roster this year that can do all three. DJ must be as close it it gets.......

-4/10.
This is a serious topic. I wouldn't worry if I were an LSU fan. This game will probably be a shootout, and I trust Chavis' coaching and adjustments over Grantham's. Todd Grantham isn't an elite defensive coordinator; if the Bulldog's defense doesn't improve dramatically by the end of the season then Grantham should be canned.

LSU is the underdog. Isn't that just how LSU wants it? Good Luck!

I'd like Georgia to lose, but I can't decide if an LSU loss or win would be better for Alabama at this point.

No one as really been able to answer this question to date. I have asked it a few times as well. He had a lot of playing time as a TF and played very well. So, not sure what is up other than he has dropped off or is buried in the depth chart. That is not good if he can't get playing time with our current situation at LB.

My biggest bitch about Welter is his lack of getting off blocks. Once the OL gets close to him, it's over.
I suspect what you will see is that Beckwith will be brought along much like PP7. By the end of the year he will be starting, but he simply isn't ready yet (in the coaches eyes).

Can't comment much on Louis because I haven't seen him do very much.

So far it is also clear that Minter was making Barrow look good. Barrow doesn't look remotely close to how he did last year.

Kwon has probably been our best LB, but still gets lost with his assignments from time to time.

Debo just gets lost period.

Taj has been very meh when I've watched him.

Our DE's and DT's haven't helped the most either. Seems that both get out of position, which can make LB's look bad as well.

I'm hoping that some of it is simply the read option crap their seeing. Ga runs a more traditional O, so let's see.

Should we run a base 4-3 and not that 4-2-5 where our 2 LB look spread out inviting someone to run through the line then through their turf? I say we go 4-3 with the LB's no further out than where the DL are. Then one of our safeties can edge in on the strong side (at times 8 in the box to stuff Gurley). That leaves man on man on the outside with another safety to help over the top. Then, on obvious passing plays we go back to nickel.

I might be crazy but it looks like the D Line is spread out a little more too. Doesn't help we only had two LB on the field a lot of the time.
