Personally I think Mason & Payne are are better backs than people give them credit for, but either way 5.3yds per carry is an ISSUE.

I dont believe average Rantard realizes what Auburn is this year. They are much better than last year.

However what we all need to realize that this is the year of the offense in the SEC. At least 10 teams returned their QB from last year and many skill players. Couple that with new schemes and coaches. Nobody in the SEC has the big bad defenses that LSU and Bama had in 2011 including LSU and Bama... UF has probably the best D in the league this year and fortunately their offense is still suffering.

f anyone else has a fullback like JC, our linebackers will be fully exposed. It's one thing to use speed to run down a sweep....it's a far different thing to blow up a hole.

talk is one thing, Beckwith didn't play any MLB last week. We are stuck with Welter riding 180 lb RBs like ponies for 9 yard gains and reading on here how great he was for piling up assists.

I laugh when people say there are no good defenses in the SEC this year. May be true but that is no reason to throw in the towel and for our defense to not strive to achieve greatness.

Florida has the best defense in the nation, imo.

If true, this terrifies me. It implicates poor talent evaluation and a gap in recuiting. Moreover, it isn't easily rectified.

Personally, I hope this is a fleeting issue attributable to youth, technique, or execution. At least that could be cured. If we just have inferior talent, we're sorta fricked.

get used to it. this defense just isnt very good. If they become mediocre we can win some more games against the big boys because the O is legit

i dont think the linebacjers played as bad as people think. if they didnt make those tackles, we had a game.

Id have to go back and look, but we played a good bit if dime. and instead if going 3-2-6 we went 4-1-6 with allen playing dt and kwin as our onky lb. our kack of dline deoth is what will hurt us. i exoected some of the frosh to step up, and they havent.

d played great fir 2.5 quarters, then we sat back. only rushing 4 and marshal had a couole if big plays. one on white who was starting onky his second game. they gave up majority of yards in the 4th quarter.

lets just hope they come to play for 4 quarters. the d hasnt been up to par since the bama game last year.

one thing ive noticed though, teans with great offenses are usually weaker on defense. big plays dont keep the d off the field.

Minter and Barrow, our senior starting LBers have combined 9 solo tackles in 4 games. NINE!

minter isnt on the team. and what dies solo tackles have to do with it? dont we want multiple guys around the ball carruer? dont we want the guys swarming on d? we dint want anyone one on one with a good back. If auburn had more guys tackling hill, he woukdnt have busted thise huge runs. If the linebacjers werent ckeaning up plays, it would have been worse.

malzhans o will be abke to move the ball on people. once nick keeos getting used to the speed, they will be hard to stop. which is what we did. at one pt we had almost double the yardage and had ran the same amount of plays. we were up 35-14 then. the game was never in doubt.

Probably need to widen the field-of-view in our assessments.

Our D plays well in spurts. AU only had like 101 yds O in the 1st half. In the 2nd half, they had 330+.

I think Chief was counting on Freak/Ego being dominant in the middle (they've been good but not Brockerish). That would allow him to leave Barrow outside and let DJ, Louis, Beckwith mature at MLB.

At present, we don't have a Minter on the roster. I think Louis and Beckwith can be but they aren't there yet. IOW, I don't think it's talent or coaching, just inexperience.

Welter and Tahj missed all but the bowl game last year. Kwon missed a lot. Louis is a true Soph who only played sparingly. Beckwith a true Fr.

I expect our D to get better and better as the year goes and players mature.

In some respects it seems like we're still in a pre-season phase - trying out lots of people which isn't conducive to chemistry. Hopefully, we'll see our best D for 4 qtrs Sat.

When 90% of your tackles are assists, it's a problem.

Kwon had a great mix of solo and assists (5-5). Barrow made not one solo tackle. That is disturbing. Welter is what he is, and that is mediocre. Hell, even in a game where he went out for a significant portion, Minter had 17 solo tackles against UF last year! Our starting MLB has 6 in 4 games.

To give you an idea. Minter averaged 4.2 solo tackles a game last year. Wetler is at 1.5 solo tackles a game. Even if you take out his UF game, Minter had over 3 solo tackles a game.

It is a big deal. Assisted tackles are nice, but when that's all you have and combine it with the opponents backs get 5+ yards/carry, it is an issue.

we got a lot out of minter, I agree. but you still dont want one guy making the tackles. you remember what hapoend in that uf game? they ran all over us and we lost.

In a way, Minter was "too good" last year. He played himself right into leaving early which at the start of the year I wouldn't have guessed it.
