re: HIMYM The Final Season

I'm liking it so far, good start. The mother seems cool, funny and kinda quirky.

first one was one of the better ones of recent, and the second was pretty meh until the end. both had some very good moments, though. definitely cool to see the mother interacting with some of the cast. you'll enjoy it

I guess I'm alone on this, but I thought the second episode was terrific. OK, I'm going to hate the Marshall Planes, Trains, and Automobiles riff, but I understand that he didn't want to do a final season and they had to write around him doing as little work as possible.

But that final scene is everything that HIMYM is good at. It was poignant without being overbearing, and still funny (VESUVIUS!). And the offer for Barney and Robin to nibble his brother's dong is just comedy gold.

I like that we're already invested in the Mother, and she's now been onscreen for about 10 minutes. She has real chemistry with the cast.

I loved the scene at the end with 1 year in the future Ted and the mother with current Ted. Just a nice, feel good scene.

And I love the mother already. She just has a quality about her that draws me in. Seems like a cool girl.

I thought both episodes were fantastic. The Marshall stuff in the 2nd wasn't great but overall they were very funny and the way they brought in the mom was well done.

Both of these were right on point with some of the better episodes IMO.

A lot of the jokes were done at Teds expense which is when it is at its funniest I think.

This show is at it's funniest when the following are occurring:
1. Jokes are at Ted's expense because he sucks
2. Barney is doing something incredibly legen_wait for it...dary! Generally something weird and sexual or some kind of strange challenge involving get laid under extreme circumstances.
3. Robin straight up not giving a f&%k about anything.
4. Marshall attempting some kinds of blatantly idiotic, childish shenanegans.
5. Lily assisting in those shenanigans because she wants to have crazy monkey sex and can't until aforementioned shenanigans have been completed.

loved all of that. the marshall stuff just seemed forced and took away from the episode for me. i guess that was my biggest thing. but like i said, overall, it was a solid hour of TV.
