One reason gifted athletes are by-passing LSU MAY be the reputation of the team environment.

CR opted for a program that apparently has much more discipline, personal and team, and whose linemen consistently and publically get better every year. When was the last time you could say that LSU linemen developed year by year?

Beginning with Perrouloux every year there seem to be members of the LSU team in bars at 2 AM, beating up people, smoking dope, kicking heads, acting like fools... which is all you find in bars at 2 AM.

The viral video of Hill sucker punching a student is now used in many lectures nationwide of "what not to do." Like it or not, when Miles publically ignored that event he threw away a lot of good will with parents who want their son to matriculate, not degenerate.

This is a reason I think LF is not going to LSU ... because of the Hill event pass. He is smart and education oriented and will not want to be a part of a semi gang-culture. Personally I think he will go to Michigan.

Like it or not, LSU has developed a team reputation off the field much like Miami's in the '80s (note - on the field LSU is not the dirty thuggy team Miami was). And the fans who think that doesn't matter are ostriches.

Why do Bama fans continuously come to "our" board and post BS! Who monitors this boards?

I guarantee that no LSU fan is allowed to post on a Gumps board nor I ever desire to

Oh and yes we know our school is a disaster and Thug U all over again just like Miami. Hail Catholic University of Alabama

Kinda tough to beat a team twice.

Agreed, but not impossible. Bama beat Florida twice in 1999. Once in regular season and once in SEC Championship. It is not, however, hard to at least be competitive twice.

Bama did not deserve to be there, period

Debatable. Bama's only loss was in OT to the #1 team in the country in a game in which Bama never trailed for a single second of play. LSU won on the last play possible in the game. OSU lost to Iowa State. That'd be like Bama or LSU losing to Mississippi State or Vandy or Kentucky.

Quit trying to justify the gift ESPN gave you.

ESPN gave no gift. The job of the BCS is to put the #1 ranked team against the #2 ranked team. There is a coach's poll, the harris poll (former coaches), and the computer polls. ESPN doesn't sway computers. ESPN doesn't sway coaches. ESPN MIGHT sway former coaches.

Answer: look at the title of the line...

Also, do you think that maybe it would be more mature if you tried answering the arguments in the post instead of whining?

reputation off the field

Cam is building a reputation off the field for himself by annoucing his decision the way he did and picking the enemy. All I can say to Cam is he is now Tiger Bait and won't be welcome into many establishments in Louisiana!! My son's high school plays West Monroe this Friday and all I can tell you is Cam is going to catch hell the whole night!! He may get some cleats to the nads or eyeballs mashed while in bottom of piles all the while being called Tiger Bait!! My son plays LB so he will have many encounters with the traitor! West Monroe played us at our place last year and my son said Cam was slow and a big puss in that game!

Bama won three out of the last four last BCSNCGs.

Bama could be in town far shittier than T-Town and still get the recruits.

We're close to taking that back. Be patient

Part of it is that we live in a sports culture that treats anything short of the ultimate championship in that sport as failure. Conference titles, 10-11 win seasons? Those are "moral" victories. Try and point out how close the difference is between teams, well you are just making excuses.

Alabama has won 3 of the last 4 BCS titles, so they get and have earned a lot of praise and coverage for that. Kids are also big band wagon jumpers. Because they are elite athletes and physically huge, its easy to forget that they are still kids. Saban won his first title at Bama when this current class was in 8th grade, that seems like forever when you are that age.

Of course Bama is a great program. They do have top of the line facilities and great coaches who are also great recruiters. All that gets the attention of a lot of top players.

OMG... a kid from N. Louisiana, closer to Tuscaloosa than Baton Rouge commits to a school other than LSU and you advocate putting his eyes out, severely injuring him? Why don't you just put a hit out on him, or his family a la Taliban?

What kind of monster are you? Do you represent the way most LSU "fans" think? ugh...

I haven't been over here on TD in quite awhile.
I'm truly glad I stopped by.

This thread is pure gold.

Espn is why Bama won in 2011.

If we have an off year we won't get top recruits and balance will be restored(pretty much what happened in 2010, right?)

You guys are cute, I'm gonna be sure to stop by here more often.

See y'all in November. Hope we're both unblemished at that point.....GOTC Part 17 babay!!!

Goddamn LSU has more than its share of insecure fans.

Bama has won 3 of 4, Saban is the undisputed best coach of the modern era, and Bama's history is second to none. A player picks Bama over LSU and suddenly this board is overrun with reactionary mouth breathers bitching about taking our state back, cursing kids for leaving, questioning their loyalty to their state, and generally acting like children.

Oh and Miles pulls in top 10 classes on the reg and is widely seen as having the most talented team in the SEC. But the sky is falling, of course.
