I never found it to be anything special and I swear they make their hollandaise from an insta pack. While the food was edible I didn't find it to be anything to rush back for.

Exactly. And the fact that some people treat it like its the end all be all of breakfast is a testament to how stupid some folks are.

I don't mind the place too much, but when you serve me a side brown guacamole that I'm paying for and it tastes funny, don't look at me stupidly when I tell you to take it back.

With that said, I could use some country potatoes right about now.

It's crazy. Last time I was home, I decided to try it out and was told there was a 45 min wait. There are few places in NYC that I would wait 45mins for. A mediocre breakfast joint in BR certainly was not going to qualify.

When they brought me the check I thought they had a gun and a mask. Most overpriced mediocre breakfast I've ever had the pleasure of getting a bank loan for.

+8 or 10 or 20, lost count of how many agreed with you. The crab is usually rank, that crab cake sauce of theirs ridiculously fragrant,etc.. Louie's hash browns > ABE,etc..

New corporate one nearly as good as the one in Destin. Not as good as the one owned by that Bert guy in old Chalet Brandt in it's first year, before fizzling out hard later..and when went rogue named place at the end..it was bad.

Would rather a Frenchie's Western Omelette at Louie's for a more affordable price. Better yet, it's damn breakfast fare, make your own with some Whole Foods grade ingredients, and still save a fortune per portion.

Just don't understand folks that spend top dollar eating eggs, burgers, hot dogs,etc.. Even the patrons stacked deep each morning in McFastfood drive lanes..why?? When you can easily make it better and much cheaper at home, in very little time. Drunken wee hours dining the exception.

Save your dining dinero for intricate sophisticated prep food, and/or extensive prep time fare.

I think a lot of people like brunch more for social gathering and stress-free Sunday meal.

Sometimes I don't want to cook breakfast.

You want to talk about lazy people wasting money on high priced food that is easy to cook at home..... how about people who eat steak out 90% of the time they visit restaurants.

I don't find ABE that much higher priced than typical diners. It might be $1 or $2 more per plate.

I like ABE, I just wish they would stop serving those little frozen potatoes. Those things piss me off.

Sometimes I don't feel like making hollandaise sauce for just a couple of eggs.

re: Another Broken Egg. My review

Okay, I can understand a great brunch, or Hollandaise, or after church running late and don't have time to scratch that breakfast fare envie, etc..at say Commander's,etc..

But, I just don't see what I once did in trips to ABE-Destin decades ago, or ABE-BR's two incarnations.

The new one in BR takes 45 minutes to get your plate to you even when practically empty. Their crab cake is 95% filler and 5% stinky crab meat, accompanied by that patchouli potpourri sauce that is inedible. The same rank crab is what will be atop your omelette if ordered. As mentioned by others above the potatoes taste frozen from an Ore-Ida bag. The sandwiches sorta lean at times on protein. The raspberry tea is that powdered HFCS garbage variety, etc..

It's not bad food, just slightly overpriced for what you get. BR has had at least two tea rooms formerly that impressed me more so, if wanting fresh teas, sandwiches, eggs, and some sliced fruit.
