I heard it on NPR yesterday. They interviewed an author who wrote a book about genetics and sports...give me a minute to do some digging, I'll try to find it...

Fasicnating listen

The part about predicting Mike Piazza and Eric Kurose success by only testing players vision was crazy...

how do you feel about lasic? I'm thinking about it.

It's a great procedure. Just do it for the right reason. If your prescription is fairly strong or you do things that make wearing glasses/contacts difficult, then it can make your life quite a bit different.

A buddy of mine who had it in the last few years said after, "I can see all the leaves on trees."

I can see up close just fine, but can't see deep. I can drive without glasses or contacts during the day but at night its a crap shoot

just don't know if its worth the risk. I can play golf without any contacts in. sometimes I hit them so deep I can't see them....but sometimes I find them

So, an eye exam may help cure your inability to see it?
Sounds like this could lead to more, and excessive, Smashfactor.

These are some of lesser know side effects of smash.

Shame. So young..

Really? Damn.

Had no idea. I'm gonna rest up now, oldy must pay for his prior transgressions in previous rounds, denouncing smash and telling me to swing easy.

Swing easy, pshhhhhhh. I'll do that when I'm dead.

Once you get to be a few years older, somewhere between 40-45, the near vision will likely start to get worse. LASIK won't do anything about that. It's to correct your distance vision. If you're playing golf and driving without correction, I'd probably say don't bother with the LASIK. But that's without knowing your prescription and anything else about your eyes.

thanks for the advice. I'm a few months shy of 40 and basically just wear glasses/contacts to watch TV/movies at night/drive at night, etc... I may go for it later on I just can't stand the thought of cutting my eyes with lasers

You grow into it. It seems difficult to someone that has never done it but start when your a young buck and its easier than some think.
