The season premier two weeks ago drew 11.8 million viewers. That makes is the number one nonfiction series telecast in cable history, though nonfiction is stretching it. So no, their 15 minutes are not up yet.

And the second show of the season beat the premier's viewers.

Jerry Springer once had the highest rated show on tv. Appealing to the lowest common denominator will certainly get plenty eyes on your show but eventually they will move on to the next shiny thing put in front of them. Remember when Swamp People was all the rage and every other word out of people's mouth involved some "clever" form of Choot'em. Then everyone moved on.

no doubt, they'll fade off
but if they have any business sense (which it appears at least one does), they're making big bank during this run
point is...no need to hate

Hopefully they can cash in on their fleeting fame to become some anonymous internet hater.

Hey, anybody got a link to the Brian Wilson painting, with mad Saban and the "I'm Leaving You For Brad Wing" meme couple? Remember that? I can't find it. Searched and it's not turning up anywhere.

Sorry for the hate.... Can't fault them for making more money than I'd ever dream of. I just don't get the appeal for these reality shows.

Duck Dynasty is actually a reality show with a heart. It's obvious when someone hasn't watched it.

I HATE reality TV yet I love Duck Dynasty because you just don't see TV supporting family values anymore.

ETA: Si as a guest picker would be awesome!

I've worked on reality shows and I've watched multiple episodes of DD against my will. Trust me, they're all staged. But if you enjoy them...

I'm not a super fan meaning, I don't go around saying Happy, Happy, Happy or wear the T-shirts from walmart. I do watch the show. It is asinine to compare it to Springer or even Swamp People. Duck Dynasty at least has a redemptive aspect to it. I also get the feeling people tune in to Duck Dynasty to laugh with the family. In the other shows they tune in to laugh at the train wreck. This is the first show that makes me proud to be from Louisiana.
